Fliers departing the Queen City will soon have a relaxing new place to have a gourmet meal and unwind before catching their flight, thanks to American Airlines¡¯ newest lounge project.
The Dallas-based carrier just announced plans to build a brand new Flagship lounge at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT).
Flagship lounges offer spacious floorplans and luxe amenities, including a welcome glass of Champagne and rotating gourmet menus designed by James Beard Award-winning chefs. Each Flagship location offers a lounge area, a bar and dining area, as well as workstations, spa shower suites, and a family room for travelers with young children.
American says it will release the exact details and timeline for the CLT Flagship lounge at a later date. In addition to the new Flagship lounge, the carrier will also expand its existing Charlotte Admirals Club locations, too.
¡°As an airline, we¡¯re committed to meeting the needs of our customers, and we¡¯re excited to continue to invest in our lounges at CLT,¡± said Heather Garboden, American¡¯s chief customer officer. ¡°These improvements will introduce a premium experience for our Flagship? customers and provide more space in our Admirals Club? lounges.¡±
The announcement comes on the heels of American opening a new grab-and-go style lounge at CLT called Provisions by Admirals Club. The location is the first of its kind for the carrier and allows travelers to select fresh pre-packaged food and beverage options, as well as quick customer service assistance.
The airline has been focused on expanding its lounge footprint at CLT, which is the second-largest hub in its network. American operates flights to more than 170 destinations in 27 countries out of Charlotte, with millions of its passengers transiting through the hub every year. The carrier plans to expand its CLT operations in January 2026, when it plans to move the headquarters of its wholly owned subsidiary PSA Airlines to CLT, too.
¡°Charlotte is incredibly important to American¡¯s network,¡± said Ralph Lopez, American¡¯s Senior Vice President of CLT Operations. ¡°We serve millions of customers as they travel through CLT, and we¡¯re excited to continue to elevate their experience when traveling with us.¡±
American operates two other traditional Admirals Clubs in Charlotte in Concourse B and Concourse C/D.
The airline has been expanding its Flagship lounge network at other airports throughout the year, debuting a Flagship outpost at Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) earlier this summer and announcing plans to build a new location at Miami International Airport (MIA).
