Flying to one of the world¡¯s fastest growing aviation markets is about to get a little smoother.?
India-based airline IndiGo has announced a new partnership with Delta, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic that will ensure seamless travel to and from India and a more consistent experience across the continents each carrier serves.
The group of airlines has signed a memorandum of understanding to link Indigo¡¯s domestic network throughout India with Delta¡¯s United States and transatlantic network, as well as Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic¡¯s established route maps throughout Europe, the U.K., and Canada, connecting dozens of cities throughout those regions.
¡°This agreement is another example of our commitment to making travel more connected, more inclusive and more accessible,¡± said Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian. ¡°Combining our strengths with those of IndiGo, Air France-KLM, and Virgin Atlantic, will enable us to offer unparalleled connectivity and convenience, ensuring that our customers enjoy the highest standards of service and reliability across the globe. We look forward to restarting Delta¡¯s direct service from the U.S. to India in the near future.¡±
Delta plans to soon relaunch its nonstop service from Atlanta to Delhi, but the route resumption is still subject to government approvals and no start date has been announced yet.
With the memorandum of understanding, IndiGo is expanding existing partnerships it has had with Air France-KLM and Virgin Atlantic since 2022. But the agreement will launch a brand new partnership between Delta and the Indian carrier, connecting the two airlines¡¯ networks for the first time.
The new connections will complement IndiGo¡¯s new routes to Europe, which debut this summer. In July, the airline will launch service to Amsterdam and Manchester, England.
Once the partnerships receive the necessary regulatory approvals, IndiGo customers will be able to book flights operated by the other partner airlines directly on IndiGo¡¯s site, including KLM flights from Amsterdam to cities throughout Europe, Delta and KLM flights from Amsterdam to the U.S. and Canada, and Virgin Atlantic flights from Manchester, England, to the U.S.?
