It¡¯s about to get much easier for American tourists to travel to one of the most beautiful islands in the world, thanks to American Airlines¡¯ newest route announcement.
Starting next February, the carrier will begin flights between Miami International Airport (MIA) and the idyllic island of Bimini in The Bahamas.?
The hour-long flight into South Bimini Airport (BIM) will be one of the shortest in American¡¯s network, but it will ease logistics for travelers who want a quick hop from the United States to one of the most popular Out Islands in The Bahamas. American will be the only U.S. carrier to fly nonstop to Bimini when the route launches on February 14, 2026.?
American will operate the new flights three times per week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays using its single-aisle Embraer 175 aircraft, which are outfitted with two cabin classes: Main economy class and Premium. Fares are now on sale, with round-trips in February starting at $732 in economy.
Bimini sits just 50 miles off the coast of Florida and is known for its pristine, powder-soft beaches, world-class diving and snorkeling, and its surrounding chains of secluded cays.
¡°American knows that travelers are looking for unique and varied experiences, and that¡¯s why we¡¯ve added destinations like Bimini to our network,¡± said Brian Znotins, American¡¯s senior vice president of network planning. ¡°We recently announced new routes for travelers to explore unique architecture in Prague or Budapest or ski down exciting slopes in Sun Valley, and now we¡¯re offering a new island option in the Bahamas.¡±
Bimini will be the carrier¡¯s seventh destination in The Bahamas. American also flies to the capital city of Nassau, as well as Georgetown (GGT) on the Out Island of Exuma. It¡¯s also the only U.S. carrier to fly nonstop to Governor¡¯s Harbour (GHB) on the island of Eleuthera, as well as Freeport (FPO) on Grand Bahama.?
In addition to the new route launch to Bimini, the carrier says that it will also add additional flight frequencies to Marsh Harbour (MHH) on Grand Abaco and North Eleuthera (ELH) for the December 2025 holiday season.?
