      World's Safest Airlines

      1/11
AirlineRatings.com has named the world's safest airlines for 2019. The safety and product rating website took into account a wide range of factors such as audits from aviation's governing and industry bodies, crash and serious incident records, profitability, industry-leading safety initiatives and fleet age, among others, to determine which carriers are leading the way in regards to safety.

      Qantas

      2/11
Launching all the way back in 1921, Qantas is the world's oldest continuously operating airline and AirlineRatings.com's editors point out that Australia's flag carrier is now accepted as the industry's most experienced airline.

      Alaska Airlines

      3/11
The safest U.S. airline in the New Year is Alaska Airlines. Nonetheless, a recent increase in checked bag fees and the elimination of some customer-friendly policies might annoy some frequent fliers in 2019.

      All Nippon Airways

      4/11
Travelers voted Japan's largest carrier the third-best airline in the world at the 2018 Skytrax World Airline Awards this past summer. It was also recognized as having the cleanest aircraft cabins of any airline in the world.

      American Airlines

      5/11
American Airlines is the only Big Four carrier to crack AirlineRatings.com's top 10 this year. In addition to its impressive safety record, the airline wants to help passengers improve their health while they travel through a relaxing meditation app known as Calm.

      Austrian Airlines

      6/11
A subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, Austrian Airlines boasts a fleet of more than 80 aircraft serving approximately 130 destinations around the world.

      British Airways

      7/11
Norwegian Air may have surpassed British Airways in the battle for New York but the U.K. carrier has the edge when it comes to overall safety based on AirlineRatings.com's research. It only trails Austrian Airlines for the title of Europe's Safest Airline in 2019.

      Cathay Pacific

      8/11
Routinely ranked among the world's best airlines by travelers and experts alike, Cathay Pacific's standing in the latest iteration of AirlineRatings.com's safety rankings comes as no surprise.

      Emirates

      9/11
Emirates is not only one of the world's safest airlines but also the most entertaining. It ranked tops worldwide for best in-flight entertainment for the 14th straight year at the 2018 Skytrax World Airline Awards, beating out stiff competition from Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways and others.

      EVA Air

      10/11
Taiwan's EVA Air is not only an industry leader when it comes to safety but a beloved airline by those who value complimentary amenities, exceptional service and affordability.

      Finnair

      11/11
Finnair has made headlines for weighing passengers and its endearing pilots in the past but in 2019 it's being honored for its stellar safety record and ongoing efforts to ensure it stays that way.
