      New Flights Taking Off This Summer

      Flight Routes Arriving This Summer

      This summer travel period is gearing up to be another busy one and airlines are preparing for the heightened demand by launching new service between popular destinations.

      From seasonal domestic flights to long-haul international routes, travelers will have many more choices in the second-third of 2024.

      Here are some of the most anticipated flights taking off this summer.

      Alaska Airlines

      Alaska Airlines will increase service from Portland, Oregon (PDX) to Las Vegas; Ontario, California; Reno and Sacramento starting August 20. Meanwhile, the carrier will start weekly flights between Anchorage, Alaska and San Diego starting May 18, followed by daily flights from Anchorage to New York City (JFK) beginning June 13.

      American Airlines

      American Airlines will launch new flights between New York City (JFK) and Tokyo¡¯s Haneda Airport (HND) starting on June 28. The Dallas-based carrier is the only U.S. carrier to offer nonstop service between JFK and Tokyo.

      As part of a record-breaking schedule from Dallas, American will also launch a new daily flight between Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) and Barcelona, Spain (BCN) starting in June.

      Avelo Airlines

      Avelo Airlines will begin service from Southern Connecticut's Tweed-New Haven Airport to both?Atlanta?Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Charlotte¡¯s Concord-Padgett Regional Airport beginning June 14. What's more, the low-cost carrier will introduce new weekend service between?Orlando?and?Miami between June 7 and August 18.

      Delta Air Lines

      Delta Air Lines is planning to resume daily nonstop service between New York City (JFK) and Tel Aviv, Israel (TLV) on June 7. The flight will operate aboard an Airbus A330-900neo offering nearly 2,000 weekly seats from New York to Israel. The service was suspended following Hamas' surprise attack on Israel in October 2023.

      Frontier Airlines

      Frontier Airlines will launch nonstop service between Luis Mu?oz Mar¨ªn International Airport (SJU) in San Juan, Puerto and Cibao International Airport in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic (STI) on June 14 and begin service between SJU and Grantley Adams International Airport in Barbados (BGI) on July 3. Starting July 4, the ultra-low-cost carrier will fly three times weekly between Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) and Miami (MIA).

      Frontier will also launch nonstop service from various airports across the U.S. in June and July, including connecting Denver and Savannah, Georgia (June 13) and Chicago and Salt Lake City (June 14).

      JetBlue

      JetBlue will start daily seasonal service from New York's JFK Airport to Scotland's Edinburgh Airport (EDI) on May 22. The service is scheduled through September 30, 2024. JetBlue will also add a second daily flight from New York's JFK to Paris, France (CDG) on June 20.

      Southwest Airlines

      Beginning June 4, Southwest Airlines will launch daily service between Orlando, Florida and a handful of warm-weather destinations, including Cancun, Mexico; Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands; Nassau, Bahamas; Providenciales, Turks and Caicos; Punta Cana, Dominican Republic and San Jos¨¦, Costa Rica.

      Southwest will also expand its footprint in Burbank, California with new service to Boise, Idaho; Kansas City, Missouri; New Orleans; San Antonio and St. Louis starting June 4. The low-cost carrier will also offer daily nonstop service between Colorado Springs, Colorado and Baltimore/Washington beginning June 4.

      United Airlines

      United Airlines will expand its presence in the Philippines with new year-round, non-stop service from Tokyo-Narita to Cebu starting July 31. Before that, the airline will add a second daily flight between New York/Newark and Porto, Portugal starting May 23.

      Additionally, United will launch four weekly flights between Shanghai, China and Los Angeles starting August 29.
