And
America’s favorite theme park is...not
what you think it is.
It’s
not the place with an oversized mouse as its mascot. This is a place named after
a nearly 80-year-old woman
whose singing career is enjoying quite the resurgence.
It’s
Dollywood!
Located
in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, it is the creation of country music icon Dolly Parton. It
beat out Disney World and Disneyland, according to a survey from the National
Amusement Park Historical Association.
Parton
is not only the queen of country music but she is a member of the Rock and
Roll Hall of Fame, and will have a Broadway musical about her based on her
life.
"Look
at?The Dolly Parton Experience, which we opened less than two weeks
ago," Dollywood President Eugene Naughton said in a statement. "It is an industry-leading offering that
follows closely behind two spectacular additions last year: the greatest new
ride in the industry, Big Bear Mountain, and one of the top resort properties
at any theme park,?HeartSong Lodge & Resort."
Big
Bear Mountain is a roller coaster that was named best new attraction. The National
Amusement Park Historical Association has been conducting the survey annually
for 38 years.
Dollywood’s
resort
is also highly acclaimed.
