With Pride Month approaching, it is clear that the LGBTQ+ community is a significant part of the travel landscape.

So why do we continue to segment such an essential part of society?

That is a philosophical and personal question. Perhaps we are not as tolerant as we think, not when we must identify safe places for an entire community to travel. It¡¯s not that way for other parts of society.

For example, I have been traveling for more than 40 years, and no one ever had to tell me that I wouldn¡¯t be accepted where I went.

The?LGBTQ+ movement started more than 50 years ago at the Stonewall Inn in New York City and continues to this day. Sadly, some countries put out advisories against traveling to specific areas that aren¡¯t as tolerant. It shouldn¡¯t have to come to this.

Instead, we should embrace the LGBTQ+ community.

Ryan Bos, the executive director of the Capital Pride Alliance and the organizer of WorldPride, has said they are considering a travel advisory in response to the administration. President Trump?issued an executive order?saying it is ¡°the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female.¡± It¡¯s not that easy.

¡°Traveling with caution and educating ourselves is a regular practice for LGBTQ+ people,¡± Bos told Newsweek. ¡°We encourage all visitors to consult official sources and seek legal guidance as needed.¡±

      It¡¯s unfortunate but true.

We should not have to paint the gay and lesbian community into a corner. It¡¯s like saying that only people who like the color blue can travel. Travel is for everyone. It¡¯s one of the joys of life that should be open to all without restrictions or warnings.

It should be embraced by all in every aspect.?
