This summer, Uber¡¯s travel services are taking to the skies. The rideshare company is launching new travel products on Italy¡¯s Amalfi Coast, including private helicopter transfers and boat tours.
The new Uber Copter service will allow travelers to use the Uber app to book private helicopter rides from Sorrento to Capri for up to six people. The helicopter transfers will be a great option for group travelers looking to book a seamless day trip to the island of Capri, which is known for its rugged coastline, cliffside buildings, and luxury yachting culture.?
Uber will operate a dual-engine, dual pilot helicopter from an ¡°exclusive helipad¡± in Sorrento. The helicopter ride, estimated to be about 20 minutes, costs €1,500 (about $1,727 USD), which comes out to about €250 ($288) per person for a fully booked helicopter carrying six people. The fee also includes car transfers to and from the helicopter from anywhere on the Amalfi Coast.
¡°At Uber, we strive to help our customers go anywhere, wherever they are traveling,¡± said Anabel Diaz, Uber¡¯s vice president, Europe, Middle East, and Africa mobility. ¡°Italy is fast becoming one of our most popular tourist destinations, with travelers turning to the Uber app to help make their holiday travel stress-free. This summer, we¡¯re adding a series of unforgettable experiences that will make traveling by land, sea or air more magical than ever before.¡±
The company is also launching Uber Boat, which will offer private four-hour cruises for a group of 12 people on an Italian Gozzo 35 boat. The boat charters depart from Sorrento Marina, and every trip ¡°includes its own personal skipper and complimentary snacks and beverages,¡± according to Uber.
Both Uber Copter and Uber Boat will be available to book directly in the Uber app from anywhere in Italy starting on June 25. The services will run every Saturday and Sunday from July 26 to August 24.
Bookings for both services must be made at least 48 hours in advance. Uber says both services are weather dependent, and availability is expected to be limited.?
