American Airlines is one of the founding partners of One Stop Security (OSS), a new program created between the U.S. Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and the U.K. Department for Transport (DfT) to allow for faster security when transiting through London Heathrow Airport from Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.?
Through the program, American Airlines passengers connecting through London Heathrow to non-U.K. destinations from Dallas-Forth Worth in Terminals 3 or 5 are no longer required to go through security screening a second time, saving time. They also won¡¯t be required to grab their baggage and re-check them before boarding their connecting flight.
According to the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), OSS programs can be beneficial for passengers and the industry: ¡°OSS agreements enable the avoidance of unnecessary duplication of security controls and increase the global sustainability of the aviation security system, and provide for a more straightforward transfer process for passengers and their belongings resulting in shorter connections, fewer missed connections and fewer missing bags at destination.¡±
The OSS began February 4 as a pilot program.?
¡°American Airlines is thrilled to be working with the U.S. and U.K. governments to roll out a first-of-its-kind security agreement that will provide our customers a more seamless and secure flying experience,¡± said Nate Gatten, Chief Government Affairs Officer for American.?
¡°This partnership simplifies international air travel for our customers, and we look forward to opportunities to expand it to more airports, including from LHR to DFW, in the future.¡±
