      Alabama - Good People Brewing

      1/50
This Birmingham brew crew believes that there's no better way to enjoy the company of friends than with a great beer, and they've been dishing out the latter since 2008. Stop by their gorgeous Parkside brewery to sip the highly-rated and hoppy Snake Handler Double IPA and make some new pals in the process. After all, they're "good people".

Alaska - Midnight Sun Brewing Company

      2/50
Midnight Sun got into the brewing game back in 1995 and haven't looked back since. They make dozens of types of beer and barleywine each year with one of the most popular mainstays being the Monk's Mistress Belgian-style Dark Ale. Simply put, sipping one of their beers under the summer sun is an essential Alaskan travel experience.

Arizona - Arizona Wilderness Brewing Co.

      3/50
Arizona Wilderness combines a passion for the great outdoors with a love of great beer. You can taste the Grand Canyon State in their brews as they show off the state's agricultural community in almost everything they do. Expect a rotating roster of Ales and Saisons featuring locally-sourced ingredients like lemons, pecans, peppers and cacao nibs.

      Arkansas - Ozark Beer Company

      4/50
The Ozarks are among one of the USA's most underrated regions, but there's nothing unsung about Ozark Beer Company. Their beer has been carrying the craft brew flag for Northwest Arkansas since 2013 and their awesome Onyx Coffee Stout is a fine way to unwind after a day spent exploring the region's natural wonders.

      California - Stone Brewing

      5/50
The Golden State is stacked with great breweries but Stone comes the closest to combining the best attributes of all of them into one. Started in San Diego in 1996, Stone has grown to become one of the USA's craft beer titans. Try their iconic IPA or tangerine-tinged version to see what makes these guys so enduringly-special.

      Colorado - Oskar Blues Brewery

      6/50
Like Cali, The Centennial State is kilometers ahead of many when it comes to craft quaffs and Oskar Blues can compete with any in Colorado with its ridiculously sippable range of cans. Tip back a tall boy of Ten FIDY and behold the beautiful barrel-aged flavors of espresso, caramel, vanilla and burnt sugar.

      Connecticut - Thomas Hooker Brewery

      7/50
Even though Thomas Hooker-the founder of Hartford-was a devout Puritan, surely he would have been proud of what is being brewed in his name. While we don't know whether he would have actually drunk one of Thomas Hooker Brewery's modern-day beers, with lovely concoctions like Liberator Doppelbock, he surely would have been tempted.

      Delaware - Dogfish Head Brewing

      8/50
Dogfish Head helped kick-start the American craft beer revolution and they are definitely still on top of their game. The continually-hopped 90 Minute IPA has been revered for years and their recently-released Seaquench Ale is already on its way to being crowned one of the official beers of summer.

      Florida - Cigar City Brewing

      9/50
Tampa's brewing titan, Cigar City has now become a national treasure. Beer lovers descend on Tampa in droves each year to get their hands on their special release Hunahpu's Imperial Stout-a chocolate, vanilla and espresso dream come true-while year-round winners include the Jai Alia IPA and the refreshing Florida Cracker Belgian-style White Ale.

Georgia - Creature Comforts Brewing Co.

      10/50
You've always been guaranteed to have a good time in Athens and now that Creature Comforts has come to town, it's fast on its way to becoming a craft beer mecca, too. Surely, there's no better way to while away a steamy Georgia day than by sipping their refreshing Athena Berliner Weisse?

      Hawaii - Kona Brewing Co.

      11/50
Kona has long graduated from spunky upstart to craft beer king, but that doesn't mean they still aren't Hawaii's signature brew. Their smooth Longboard Island Lager has long been a favorite with beach bums and their sunny Wailua Wheat is the perfect beer to pair with a fiery Hawaiian sunset.

      Idaho - Grand Teton Brewing

      12/50
For decades, if you were near Yellowstone National Park or Grand Teton National Park and wanted a decent beer, Grand Teton was your only option. Sure, a few more players are on the scene now but these guys are still cranking out stellar classics in addition to new barrel-aged and Gose varieties.

Illinois - Half Acre Beer Company

      13/50
In the heart of Chicago, you will find Half Acre churning out classic American craft varieties, barrel-aged beauties and an eclectic mix of wild beers from their mixed fermentation cellar. Perhaps their most impressive feat is the pure pleasure of their Pony Pilsner-proving that sometimes simple is spectacular.

Indiana - 3 Floyds Brewing Co.

      14/50
The 3 Floyds crew has been capturing hearts since the 90s with their combination of awesome beer and eye-catching label art. If you can't make it to their brewery on Dark Lord Day-the annual occasion when they pour their famous Russian Imperial Stout-then just stop by for some Zombie dust-a hoppy Pale Ale for the ages.

Iowa - Toppling Goliath Brewing Co

      15/50
Toppling Goliath has made the town of Decorah, Iowa a must-drink-in destination for beer lovers. The pristine new brewery and taproom on the outskirts of town is a shrine to beer and the best place to sip PseudoSue, their single-hop Pale Ale that shines with citrus, grapefruit and evergreen notes.

Kansas - Free State Brewing Company

      16/50
Free State's name simultaneously takes pride in Kansas' role in the Civil War and declares the brewery's right to experiment with their brews. Taste that creative spirit in the Copperhead Pale Ale, which is a hoppy beer with a subtle citrus aroma. The brewery has also made a name for itself with its small-batch barleywines.

      Kentucky - West Sixth Brewing

      17/50
Making good beer and good things happen for the community, West Sixth is a shining example of a brewery who gets it. While balancing decisions off its effect on people and the environment, they still manage to make great brews like the Pay it Forward Cocoa Porter-featuring coffee and dark chocolate flavors-and their signature West Sixth IPA.

      Louisiana - Abita Beer

      18/50
Some say the water in Abita Springs is the secret to Abita's success, others say it's their sought-after seasonal brews. Regardless, this brewery has become synonymous with beer in Louisiana. Try a toffee-kissed Turbodog-a beer that many people feel is their signature-or a subtly-sweet seasonal Strawberry Harvest.

      Maine - Allagash Brewing Company

      19/50
They've been making Belgian-inspired beer at Allagash in Portland since the 90s and they show no signs of slowing down. Look no further than their wonderful White to get a sense of their skill, as this hazy wheat features the classic combination of coriander, Cura?ao orange peel.

      Maryland - Flying Dog Brewery

      20/50
Even if you don't love their beer (spoiler alert: you will), you'll still have nothing but respect for Flying Dog's labels. They are created by Ralph Steadman-famous for his work with Hunter S. Thompson-and they add that extra bit of attitude to great brews like Gonzo Imperial Porter-created in the famous writer's honor.

      Massachusetts - Harpoon Brewery

      21/50
Not the biggest or the trendiest, Harpoon is still a "just-right" Massachusetts craft brewery (and yes, they still count as Bay State even though they have a brewery in Vermont). Look no further than their UFO Hefeweizen, a hazy wheat beer so popular it has spawned its own family of equally refreshing brews.

      Michigan - Bell¡¯s Brewery

      22/50
One of American craft brewing's best success stories, Bell's has been steadily near the top of the national rankings for decades. The 100% Centennial Hops Two-Hearted Ale IPA is a rock solid year-round selection but their best brew might just be the special release Hopslam-a dreamy Double IPA brewed with honey.

      Minnesota - Surly Brewing Co.

      23/50
They say that they're "brewed for the North" and there's no doubt that Surly's brews will keep you warm on a chilly Minnesota night. Case in point is the Bender, a smooth, hoppy American Oatmeal Brown Ale made with Belgian and British malts. Expect hints of caramel, coffee and cream and for the cold to fade away with every sip.

      Mississippi - Lazy Magnolia Brewery

      24/50
When Lazy Magnolia set up shop in 2003, they were the first brewery to brew in Mississippi since 1907. Fifteen years later and they are still leading the charge with their line of beers all tinged with a touch of Southern Charm. Look no further than their terrific Southern Pecan, a beer loaded with the flavor of roasted pecans.

      Missouri - Perennial Artisan Ales

      25/50
Ever since their founding, this St. Louis brewery has been putting out some of the best beer in the Midwest. Sample the sensational Saison De Lis-brewed with chamomile flowers-then switch over to the almighty Abraxas, a much sought-after Imperial Stout brewed with ancho chili peppers, cinnamon sticks, cacao nibs and vanilla.

Montana - Big Sky Brewing Company

      26/50
Big Sky has been making waves in the West since the mid-90s. The signature brew here is Moose Drool, a mahogany-colored American Brown Ale that has subtle notes of cocoa and coffee and one of the most iconic names in the business. Recently, they've also collected accolades for their barrel-aged selections.

      Nebraska - Nebraska Brewing Company

      27/50
NBC's Cardinal Pale Ale helped pique beer lovers interest in the brewery, but their barrel-aged specials have helped take them to the next level. Two of the highlights of these special brews are the Melange A Trois-a Belgian Ale aged in chardonnay barrels-and the Sexy Betty-an Imperial Stout aged in brandy barrels.

      Nevada - Revision Brewing Company

      28/50
Founded by two passionate former homebrewers, Revision is rewriting the craft beer playbook. Stop by their brewpub in Sparks to sample the suds straight from the taps. Highlights include their Double IPA made with Simcoe and Mosaic hops and the Dr. Luplin 3x IPA that, in their own words, features "mango having a pleasant conversation with dank".

New Hampshire - Stoneface Brewing Co.

      29/50
This Granite State upstart has blossomed into one of the best breweries in all of New England. Their brewery and tasting room pours a rotating selection of their beers with a recent menu including a fruit-tinged Berliner Weisse and a pleasantly-tart Gose. Finish your tasting with a quaff of Blip-a crisp, thirst-quenching low ABV IPA.

New Jersey - Kane Brewing Company

      30/50
Inspired by a beer-centric trip to Europe, the founders of Kane Brewing Company have come up with a line of brews that can compete with many on the Old Continent. Case in point is the Head High, which is their stellar interpretation of an American IPA. It has five different varieties of hops, all grown in the Pacific Northwest.

New Mexico - La Cumbre Brewing Co.

      31/50
La Cumbre has been taking things to another level since its inception in 2010. Their signature brew is the award-winning Elevated IPA, which picked up a gold medal at the Great American Beer Festival. Another highlight is the heavenly A Slice of Hefen-a creamy, clove-centric hefeweizen.

      New York - SingleCut Beersmiths

      32/50
The Big Apple is loaded with breweries, so it takes something special to stand out. Singlecut has managed to do just that with their hop-heavy range of IPAs. Their showstopper is the Softly Spoken Magic Spells-a golden Imperial/Double IPA that has touches of tropical citrus notes and just a smidge of pine.

North Carolina - Wicked Weed Brewing

      33/50
Craft beer capital Asheville isn't an easy place to crack into the brewing game, but Wicked Weed has survived and thrived. Give the Golden Angel-a barrel-aged sour beer that has just the perfect amount of apricot to please the palate- a go-around before trying a worship-worthy Freak of Nature Double IPA.

North Dakota - Fargo Brewing Company

      34/50
Did you know that North Dakotans drink more beer than almost anyone else in America? And did you know that up until recently, they lacked a quality brewery? Well, the four guys behind Fargo Brewing sure did and you now don't have to go thirsty in North Dakota anymore because they are brewing beasts like the Wood Chipper IPA.

Ohio - Great Lakes Brewing Company

      35/50
The one that started it all in Ohio, Great Lakes beer is nearly as entrenched in the culture of Cleveland as the Clevland Browns are. While the award-winning Edmund Fitzgerald Porter is full of flavor and the Dortmunder Gold is just as revered, people talk about their famous Christmas Ale all year long.

      Oklahoma - Prairie Artisan Ales

      36/50
The accolades have been piling up for Prairie Artisan Ales and all it takes is one trip to their Tulsa brewpub or Oklahoma City taproom to find out why. Bomb-their aged imperial stout with hints of coffee, chocolate, and chilies-is definitely the bomb as is their Prairie Vous Francais Farmhouse Ale.

      Oregon - Cascade Brewing

      37/50
It takes a lot to stand out in Portland, and Cascade has managed to pull it off. With over 1,000 drums on site, they specialize in barrel-aged sour beers here. Sip on an Apricot Ale to get a feel for their skills before switching over to a Rose City Sour-a blend of Wheat and Blond Ales kissed by rose flavor.

      Pennsylvania - Troegs Independent Brewing

      38/50
Sorry chocaholics, Troegs is putting out the most delicious products in Hershey. Sip a Perpetual IPA to get a feel for their flavors while you wait for seasonal brews Nugget Nectar-Imperial Amber Ale with mango and pine-and Mad Elf-a sought-after Christmas beer-to make their appearances.

Rhode Island - Grey Sail Brewing

      39/50
Even on a grey winter day, a sip of Grey Sail will take you back to the shore. Their signature beer called Flagship-a Golden Cream Ale inspired by crisp European lagers-has racked up a handful of awards but also check out their Mosaic-hopped Captain's Daughter Imperial IPA, which has quickly become a fan favorite.

South Carolina - Westbrook Brewing Company

      40/50
Beer lovers from all over the country are making pilgrimages to Mount Pleasant to visit the Westbrook tasting room. You don't need to go any further than their refreshing-and-sour Gose to taste the brewing skill on display here, but if you do, the Southeast Asian-spiced White Thai is wonderful.

South Dakota - Crow Peak Brewing

      41/50
You'll find Crow Peak in the heart of the Black Hills and at the apex of the South Dakota brewing game. Visit their taproom for a sample of the fine brews that have made them a legend in these parts. Examples include the Kirsch Gose brewed with cherries and the Mjollnir Ale-a Brown Ale brewed with spruce tips.

      Tennessee - Yazoo Brewing Company

      42/50
Probably the best way to get to know Yazoo is to start out sampling a beer named Sue. This smoky, malty wonder is made with barley malts smoked with cherrywood. Then move on to the award-winning Hefeweizen-full of authentic Bavarian tasting notes of banana and clove-or one of their stellar seasonal beers.

Texas - Saint Arnold Brewing Company

      43/50
Texas has been at the forefront of brewing for a long time (no doubt thanks to the state's German and Czech heritage), but Saint Arnold is its oldest craft brewery. Head to their Houston home base to sample the refreshing Fancy Lawnmower Kolsch or 5 O'Clock Pils Lager-the latter inspired by the brewers' trips to the Czech Republic.

      Utah - Uinta Brewing

      44/50
The rumors about Utah craft beer are true: it's tremendous. Look no further than Uinta Hop Nosh for evidence, as this IPA boasts a just-right amount of bitterness to go with notes of pine, grapefruit, and lime. Try the tangerine and grapefruit versions too-best enjoyed outside after a long hike.

      Vermont - Hill Farmstead Brewery

      45/50
Hill Farmstead might just be the closest thing we've got to Westvleteren here in the USA. Yes, acquiring their beer is often talked about in hushed tones and you definitely have to go on a quest to acquire it, so why not head to Vermont in order to find out for yourself what all the fuss is about.

Virginia - Hardywood Park Craft Brewery

      46/50
Hardywood has picked up an international reputation for their jolly Christmas beers, but while you're waiting for the festive season to swing around, there's still plenty of good stuff to be quaffed. Take for example the unpasteurized and unfiltered Hardywood Singel-a refreshing Belgian blonde-or the delicious barrel-aged Bourbon Barrel Cru.

      Washington - Fremont Brewing

      47/50
Family owned since 2009, Fremont is passionate about beer. In fact, their mantra is "because beer matters!" and they show off just how much it matters to them in all their brews. Interurban India Pale Ale is a beautiful bitter-yet-balanced year-round brew, but sample the special releases and barrel-aged selections to see Fremont really fly.

West Virginia - Big Timber Brewing

      48/50
Sure, they've only been in the game since 2014 and yes, there's some great beer coming out of West Virginia these days, but Big Timber is certainly running with the big boys. Their Porter is the one attracting the most accolades, as this brew tinged with coffee and chocolate is the epitome of perfectly balanced.

      Wisconsin - Leinenkugels

      49/50
No, Leinie's isn't going to be confused with a craft brewery anytime soon, but you still have to admit that one sip of their Summer Shandy takes you back to summertime. That fact and this brewery's 150-year history is enough to keep it the signature brewery for the Badger State.

      Wyoming - Melvin Brewing

      50/50
If the intro video on their website doesn't make you chuckle, then you're probably not cut out for the madness of Melvin. Yep, these guys love to have fun but there's no joking around when it comes to their beers. Their 2x4 Double IPA will hit you like "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, but trust us, you'll thank them for it afterward.
