      Easter in America

      1/31
Easter Sunday is an important day for many as cities all across America will celebrate and reflect on their faith. WalletHub recently compared the 100 largest U.S. cities based on 12 metrics across four key dimensions-including Easter observers, traditions, kid-friendliness and weather-to determine the best destinations for springtime travelers to mark the occasion in 2019.

      1. New York, New York

      2/31
No surprise here. New York City ranks number one overall as well as first for Easter traditions. The Big Apple also ranks first for most brunch restaurants, candy and chocolate stores, flower and gift shops and most Easter egg-hunt events per capita.

      2. Chicago, Illinois

      3/31
Chicago is one of only two cities (joining New York City) to rank inside the top 10 in both Easter observers and Easter traditions-the two-most heavily weighted dimensions.

      3. Los Angeles, California

      4/31
Lively Easter traditions and ideal weather propel Los Angeles to third on WalletHub's list. However, the Southern California hotspot ranks a dismal 93rd out of 100 cities for kids' Easter, which takes into account the share of children aged nine and under, Easter egg-hunt events per capita and acres of parkland per capita.

      4. Cincinnati, Ohio

      5/31
Cincinnati doesn't rank worse than 31st in any of the four dimensions. In fact, it ranks an impressive ninth for Easter observers with the third-most churches per capita.

      5. St Louis, Missouri

      6/31
Only Birmingham, Alabama can claim more churches per capita than St. Louis, which ranks second overall for Easter observers and 20th for traditions.

      6. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

      7/31
The Steel City possesses the fourth-highest percentage of the Christian population, trailing only Birmingham, Laredo, Texas and Boston. Although it's one of the worst cities for kids' Easter (98th) among those WalletHub analyzed, it ranks 14th for Easter traditions.

      7. Birmingham, Alabama

      8/31
Birmingham ranks tops in the all-important Easter observers category, boasting the most churches per capita and the highest percentage of the Christian population of the 100 cities WalletHub analyzed.

      8. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

      9/31
The City of Brotherly Love is guaranteed to be in the Easter spirit this spring as it ranks eighth for Easter observers and a respectable 21st for traditions. Perhaps surprisingly, Philadelphia ranks 19th for Easter weather forecast.

      9. Orlando, Florida

      10/31
Only New York City fares better than Orlando in terms of Easter traditions. The family-friendly destination ranks in the top five for most Easter egg-hunt events, flower and gift shops, candy and chocolate stores and brunch restaurants per capita.

      10. Las Vegas, Nevada

      11/31
Despite ranking 54th for Easter observers, Las Vegas checks in at 10th overall thanks to its plentiful Easter traditions (third) and phenomenal holiday weather (seventh). Sin City is tied for first for most brunch restaurants per capita and ranks third for most candy and chocolate stores per capita.

      11. Houston, Texas

      12/31
Houston slots in at 10th and 11th for Easter observers and kids' Easter, respectively, meaning visitors of all ages will have ample opportunities for a memorable celebration this spring.

      12. Atlanta, Georgia

      13/31
Trailing Houston by just 0.09 in terms of total score, Atlanta is another stellar place to celebrate Easter in the South in 2019 as it ranks 11th in the nation in terms of Easter traditions and 14th for holiday observers.

      13. Cleveland, Ohio

      14/31
Much like its Midwest rivals St. Louis and Cincinnati, Cleveland cracks the top 15 thanks to its dominance in the Easter observers category, boasting the fifth-most churches per capita.

      14. San Diego, California

      15/31
Sunny San Diego ranks 10th for Easter traditions and ties Las Vegas for Easter weather forecast (seventh). Still, it's among the least kid-friendly Easter cities in the top 15 (59th).

      15. Miami, Florida

      16/31
Easter traditions are Miami's best dimension. It ranks seventh nationwide in that area but fails to crack the top 40 in any other category, including Easter weather.

      16. Buffalo, New York

      17/31
If you can't make it to New York City this Easter, Buffalo might just be the next best thing as it offers a tremendous blend of faith and tradition, ranking 12th in the country for Easter observers.

      17. San Antonio, Texas

      18/31
San Antonio is among the most wallet-friendly cities offering travelers the most this Easter. Only 14 other cities in America fare better in terms of Easter traditions.

      18. San Francisco, California

      19/31
The Bay Area is tied for first in terms of most brunch restaurants per capita. It also ranks fourth and fifth respectively for most flower and gift shops and most candy and chocolate stores per capita.

      19. Minneapolis, Minnesota

      20/31
It what might come as a shock to many, Minneapolis ranks sixth for Easter weather this year. Combine that with an 18th-place ranking for Easter observers and it's clear why it was able to sneak into WalletHub's top 20.

      20. Dallas, Texas

      21/31
Dallas ranks remarkably consistent across the board with the exception of Easter weather (97th). It's 16th for both Easter observers and traditions and 15th for kid-friendliness.

      21. Washington, DC

      22/31
The nation's capital certainly isn't a bad place to celebrate Easter this year, according to WalletHub's research. The 2019 National Cherry Blossom Festival might be over but visitors will still have plenty of ways to enjoy the beautiful spring weather.

      22. Honolulu, Hawaii

      23/31
Only New York City can say it has more candy and chocolate stores per capita than Honolulu. However, budget-conscious Easter travelers might want to look elsewhere.

      23. New Orleans, Louisiana

      24/31
Adults and children alike will have a blast in New Orleans this Easter. The Big Easy ranks fourth in the country for kids' Easter and 19th overall for Easter traditions.

      24. Louisville, Kentucky

      25/31
Louisville's best-performing dimension is Easter observers, where it ranks 17th, beating out places like Orlando, Las Vegas, San Diego and Miami, among other top 30 destinations.

      25. Baltimore, Maryland

      26/31
Charm City is an excellent option for Easter travelers with young children as it ranks ninth for the little ones. Baltimore boasts plenty of parks as well as festive events catering to the whole family. It ranks fourth for most Easter egg-hunt events per capita.

      26. Memphis, Tennessee

      27/31
Memphis can credit its seventh-place ranking for Easter observers for its position in the top 30 in 2019. After all, the Tennessee city ranks middle of the pack in the other three dimensions, including 67th for Easter traditions.

      27. Indianapolis, Indiana

      28/31
Family-friendly Indianapolis is a top 10 Easter destination based on things to do for kids. However, it ranks just 35th for Easter traditions, trailing a handful of other cities in the Midwest.

      28. Charlotte, North Carolina

      29/31
Another excellent city appealing to younger Easter revelers, Charlotte is 17th for kid-friendliness this time of year but just 41st in terms of holiday traditions.

      29. Portland, Oregon

      30/31
Only two other destinations WalletHub examined feature a lower percentage of Christian population than Portland. Nonetheless, the foodie favorite ranks sixth for Easter traditions, tying for first for most brunch restaurants per capita.

      30. St Paul, Minnesota

      31/31
Across town from Minneapolis, springtime travelers also can't go wrong celebrating Easter in St. Paul, which narrowly edges Milwaukee for the final spot in WalletHub's top 30 for 2019 as a result of better Easter traditions and a promising weather forecast.
