This summer, beach getaways and major city attractions are trending among Spirit Airlines passengers, according to new data from the low-cost carrier.?
The airline revealed the top destinations that members of its Free Spirit loyalty program have redeemed for travel from June 1 to August 31. Vacation spots in Florida, Nevada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Colombia all made the list of top redemption destinations. The carrier says that its 2025 loyalty redemptions for summer vacations are 25% higher than last year.
For domestic travel, Spirit says its top three most popular redemptions this summer are:
- Fort Lauderdale (FLL)
- Orlando (MCO)
- Las Vegas (LAS)
As far as international summer getaways, the airline says its passengers used the most points to redeem flights to:
- Cancun (CUN)
- San Juan (SJU)
- Medellin (MDE)
Earlier in May, Spirit revamped its loyalty program to offer more benefits for members. "We just launched our expanded redemption options, making it easier for Free Spirit members to redeem their points for a premium experience, including our new, extra-legroom seating option," said Rana Ghosh, Spirit¡¯s senior vice president and chief commercial officer.?
Passengers can now use Spirit points to book the airline¡¯s more premium fares, like Go Big, which includes a spot in one of the airline¡¯s largest seats up front, priority boarding, and free Wi-Fi; or Go Comfy, the extra legroom option that also offers a carry-on bag, priority boarding, and a snack and drink.
The airline says that even more redemption options will be rolling out in the coming months, ¡°including personalized experiences and elevated perks that cater to every type of traveler.¡± Its new redemptions start at just 2,500 points.
