Low-cost carrier Frontier Airlines is launching two new routes just in time for summer travel. The new flights connect both popular cities and classic summer vacation destinations on the East Coast and in the Midwest.
First, Frontier will launch service between Baltimore/Washington International Airport (BWI) and Chicago O¡¯Hare (ORD) on July 7 and will operate three flights per week.
Then on July 10, the budget carrier will start twice-weekly flights between South Carolina¡¯s Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR) and New Jersey¡¯s Trenton-Mercer Airport (TTN). The coastal city in South Carolina is a popular summer getaway, offering 60 miles of white-sand beaches.
¡°From the Midwest to the Mid-Atlantic, and down the Eastern Coast, we are thrilled to announce these new routes as we continue our mission to offer our ultra-low fares to more travelers in more destinations,¡± said Josh Flyr, vice president of network and operations design at Frontier Airlines.
Fares on both routes are now on sale, with a special introductory fare of $49 one-way available through May 12 for travel until August 18.
Budget carriers in the United States, including Frontier, have been cutting flights from their schedule amid an uncertain economic environment. However, Frontier's CEO Barry Biffle has remained confident that his airline will have a strong summer season. "Domestic is in vogue again because of a lot of things going on in the marketplace,¡± he said in mid-April. ¡°And so I think you¡¯re going to see a lot of people travel all over the United States this summer.¡±
