Boeing spent the last several years besieged by financial problems and a negative public perception, but the airplane manufacturer finally got some positive news.
The company did just that by increasing the number of deliveries expected to start 2025, according to Airline Geeks.
In fact, Boeing set a record for this early in the year after another disastrous campaign. The airplane manufacturer took a huge hit on the balance sheet and in public perception due to several deadly crashes, malfunctions and terrible public relations mistakes.
According to AirInsight data, Boeing delivered 44 jets as of January 31, 2025, nearly double its 25 deliveries from January 2024. Boeing has already hit a tenth of its yearly goal.?
By way of comparison, Boeing beat Airbus by 19 jets for the month of January.
Boeing continued to struggle in the last months of 2024,
reporting a quarterly loss of $3.8 billion and a backlog of over 5,500
commercial aircraft representing a worth of $521 billion. The company lost over
$35 billion since the 2019 Max crashes that killed 346 people.
Earlier this month, the company amended its contract with
Spirit AeroSystems, one of its suppliers, which owes millions in advances. The
deal supersedes the one originally made in April of 2024, with Boeing agreeing
to buy Spirit two months later.
