The most wonderful time of the year is upon us and the festive season is already in full swing at Walt Disney World. Some of Disney World's holiday traditions, like Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, character meet and greets, fireworks, and resort gingerbread houses have been put on hold this year due to the pandemic, but there's still more than enough merriment to give you that holly jolly feeling. Here's what the holidays at Disney World look like in 2020.

Three of Disney World's four theme parks and Disney Springs are all decked out in their holiday finest. Magic Kingdom, Disney's Animal Kingdom, and Disney's Hollywood Studios have all received their seasonal overlays. EPCOT will continue to keep the focus on the 2020 Taste of EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival for a couple more weeks.

Although some seasonal offerings have been eliminated or scaled back this year, the parks feel as festive as ever. Every Disney World diehard has their favorite park at the holidays, with Magic Kingdom the hands-down favorite with its traditional take on Christmas decorations lining Main Street, U.S.A.

It's over the river and through the woods to Disney's Hollywood Studios where the vintage d¨¦cor and classic crooner carols make you feel like you're back at Grandma's house.

Sparkling stars line Sunset Boulevard, leading up to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, which forms the backdrop for holiday projections after dark.

Animal Kingdom is probably the last park that comes to mind when most guests think of holidays at Disney World, but they'll be pleasantly surprised to see truly inventive take on holiday music and d¨¦cor in each of the lands. In Africa, wreaths are made from recycled bottle caps and bicycle tires.

Colorful lanterns line the streets in Asia in celebration of India's most important holiday of the year, Diwali.

The holidays officially arrive at EPCOT a little later than the rest of the parks, with the launch of Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays Nov. 27-Dec. 30. Sample seasonal cuisine from around the world at a series of Holiday Kitchens (view the menus here).

Guests with a competitive sweet tooth can challenge themselves to complete the Holiday Cookie Stroll. Munch your way around the festival trying a variety of holiday cookies and get a complimentary cookie as a reward for completing the stroll.

To keep kids moving around World Showcase, try "Olaf's Holiday Tradition Expedition." Purchase a map and complete a scavenger hunt for hidden Olafs to get a prize.

Walt Disney World resorts get their halls decked too, with iconic Christmas trees making their annual appearance. Disney World typically unveils resort holiday d¨¦cor gradually, so guests may wake up to a jaw-dropping lobby Christmas tree that wasn't there the night before. While Disney hasn't confirmed official dates for the unveiling of resort d¨¦cor, it's fairly safe to assume it will start appearing sometime before Thanksgiving. There will be a little less sugar and spice in resort lobbies though, with beloved gingerbread house displays taking the year off.

While character meet and greets are currently suspended, each of the theme parks makes it easy for guests to spot their favorite characters via seasonal character cavalcades, motorcades, flotillas and promenades. These impromptu, mini parades make their way through the parks throughout the day so guests can see characters like Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and Winnie the Pooh and Friends in their holiday finest.

While there will be no sitting on Santa's lap this year, the big guy will be making appearances at all four theme parks and at Disney Springs by water.

Traditional character dining has been modified for the time being, but Disney World's available character meal experiences are still really enjoyable. Minnie's Holiday Dine is a special seasonal character dining experience offered at Hollywood & Vine at Disney's Hollywood Studios through Jan. 4. A three-course prix fixe meal includes family-style salad and a choice of individual entrees and desserts. Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and fan-favorite Santa Goofy will make the rounds, waving to diners and posing for physically distanced photos.

Covid-19 has forced the suspension of nighttime fireworks spectaculars, but when the sun goes down, a series of projections illuminate Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom, the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios, and the Tree of Life at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Stunning high-definition projections transform the structures periodically - don't miss the castle donning a holiday sweater or Tower of Terror masquerading as a gingerbread house - but stay put long enough that there's no "show" to draw a crowd.

Every Walt Disney World holiday season comes with festive souvenirs. Mickey sleighbell and snowman sippers are just two of the collectible food and beverage items available throughout the parks.

Collectors clamor for annual souvenir popcorn buckets. This year's is a white Christmas Tree that lights up at night. The bucket is $18.99 and comes with $2 refills for the length of stay.

'Tis the season to indulge your sweet tooth. Signature limited-edition treats are available throughout Walt Disney World and, as usual, they're uber-Instagrammable. One of the prettiest is the Let It Snow Taco, a sugar cookie "taco shell" filled with salted caramel and spiced chocolate mousse, available at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Caf¨¦ at Magic Kingdom.

Everyone's favorite Florida icon (second to Mickey, of course), Orange Bird shows up in treat form (orange-scented white chocolate mousse filled with orange curd) at Sunshine Tree Terrace at Magic Kingdom.

Seasonal floats are a must-try on a hot day at Disney World. A new one for the holidays has some on the fence, but we can't get enough of this Pistachio Chai Tea Float from Aloha Isle at Magic Kingdom: Pistachio soft-serve, spiced chai tea, and a red velvet cake pop ornament.

From red and green Spirit Jerseys and cozy Christmas jammies to sparkling Minnie ears and lots of ornaments, the shops are bursting with new seasonal merch.

Speaking of merch, new this year is a "Snow Wand." A new take on the popular bubble wand, littles will go crazy for their own personal "snoap" maker ("snoap" is Disney fan speak for the fake snow Disney World uses in its parks). The wand is $30 and can be refilled with traditional bubbles.

Disney Springs, Walt Disney World's shopping, dining, and entertainment district, has made one modification to its holiday traditions this year that we hope is here to stay! Previously, Disney Springs featured a Christmas Tree Trail, a series of Christmas trees themed to Disney characters and stories that followed a winding path. In order to support physical distancing, this year the trail has been replaced with a Christmas Tree Stroll. Guests can pick up a free map at one of several locations including House of Blues, Art of Disney, Welcome Center, and Marketplace Co-Op, and mark each tree on the map with a sticker once they've found it. Guests can then return the completed map to pick up a free gift.

OK, it's Florida, so you probably don't need to get too cozy, but Jock Lindsey's Hangar Bar, a 1940s-era airplane hangar turned watering hole inspired by the Indiana Jones film franchise, has been transformed into one of the most festive spots on property. Jock Lindsey's Holiday Bar drips with holiday d¨¦cor while classic holiday tunes and inventive seasonal cocktails like Jock's Holiday Nog and the Misteltoe Mule solidify the vibe. Appetizers, tacos and flatbreads are enough to make it a meal and there's plenty of outdoor seating if you prefer to dine outside.

This spirited boat ride through the jungle, helmed by a comic skipper who dishes out plenty of puns, has been a must-ride since opening day at Disneyland in 1955 and at Disney World in 1971. The attraction-and even your silly skipper's jokes-get a holiday update as the Jingle Cruise. Yule be sorry to miss it!
