Sun, Sand, Surf & So Much More

      1/13
It's time for a little Vitamin Sea in your life.

Sun and salt water have done the body good for centuries, and Florida has those in abundance. While almost every inch of Florida coastline is worth your time, these 12 beaches were selected based on the quality of the experience you can have as well as some unique features of each and every one.

      Grayton Beach State Park

      2/13
Repeatedly listed as one of the best beaches in the United States, Grayton Beach is secluded and off the beaten trail. (It sits between Panama City Beach and Destin in Florida's panhandle.) Meanwhile, the pristine white sands and excellent camping accommodations mean you won't mind going out of your way.

      Bahia Honda State Park

      3/13
Part of the Florida Keys, Bahia Honda is another wonderfully secluded getaway with sands and waters that make you feel like you've been transported to the Caribbean along with some of the best snorkeling in the world.

      South Beach

      4/13
Is South Beach overrated? Impossible. No matter how much publicity South Beach gets from every niche market (foodies to luxury travelers, millennials and everything in-between), this is such a singular experience that everyone should go at least once in their life-and every single one can have a good time there.

      Clearwater Beach

      5/13
There are places on Clearwater Beach where you can get one of the best sunrises you will ever see over the Intracoastal Waterway and then easily the best sunset of your life over the Gulf. Add in nice, warm water and a funky boardwalk vibe and this destination is one of a kind.

      Cocoa Beach

      6/13
One of the originals in "Florida Funk" culture, Cocoa Beach is probably best known for Ron Jon Surf Shop which has billboards (and keychains) all across the country. More than just the surfing cred, however, Cocoa Beach is also great for wildlife sightings and is fantastic for pre or post-cruise stays out of Cape Canaveral.

      Flagler Beach

      7/13
Known internationally as one of the last truly dog-friendly beaches in the United States, Flagler Beach is also one of Florida's last "old-school" beach towns with only one resort for miles and miles, the public beach access around Flagler is second to none and has everything from white sand to coquina and rocky beaches.

      Caladesi Island State Park

      8/13
No, this isn't something out of "Game of Thrones." Caladesi is an island north of Clearwater and is accessible only by boat. The crystalline quartz sand is pure white yet velvety soft, and if you make the trek alone, there's always a solid chance you'll be the only soul in sight.

      Panama City Beach

      9/13
Once known as a spring breakers paradise, Panama City Beach has shifted its focus and rebranded as a family-friendly destination. With plenty of fun to have off the sand, you'll need to remind yourself that one of the world's best beaches is moments away.

      New Smyrna Beach

      10/13
One of the world's best-surfing destinations, NSB is known for being a hip, happening place. Because of that, the people are one of the biggest draws to this area because travelers from around the world create a vibe that can't be matched.

      Sanibel Island

      11/13
Another island on our list (this one reachable by car) Sanibel and its sister, Captiva Island have miles and miles of perfect beaches, but the wildlife is in this secluded area is probably the best reason to make a trip. Manatees have been known to play in the warm waters just offshore.

      Fort De Soto Park

      12/13
Near St. Petersburg, Fort De Soto has...well, a fort that you should totally check out! In addition to the history, there is a "Paw Playground" for your pet and plenty of trails to work up a sweat before or after your dip.

      Dry Tortugas National Park

      13/13
That beautiful turquoise water that you think you need to head overseas to find? It's just a short ferry ride from the Florida Keys. Once there, you get to play in paradise with a historic fort as your backdrop. It's like something out of a Pirates of the Caribbean movie, but it's right outside of your tent if you grab one of the coveted campsites.
