      Cruising has never been more popular and with more travelers opting to set sail for their vacation, some notable trends are emerging.

      Online cruise marketplace CruiseCompete.com has released its latest trends report?for June 2024, revealing the most popular cruise lines, ships, destinations, ports and more amid the busy summer travel period based on tens of thousands consumer quote requests.

      Read on to discover some of the latest industry trends across the premium, luxury and river cruise segments.

      The Most Popular Cruise Lines

      Royal Caribbean International continues to be the most popular premium cruise line, followed by fellow Royal Caribbean Group subsidiary Celebrity Cruises and Carnival Cruise Line. Cunard Line is the hottest cruise line in the luxury segment this June, topping Oceania Cruises and Seabourn.

      Meanwhile, on the world's rivers, Viking is the most coveted brand, with American Cruise Lines and AmaWaterways rounding out the top three.

      The Most In-Demand Cruise Ships

      Royal Caribbean ships remain the most in-demand vessels in the premium segment to kick off summer, with the line's newest ship, Icon of the Seas generating the most quote requests. Icon is followed by Wonder of the Seas, Allure of the Seas and Symphony of the Seas.

      In the luxury category, Cunard's Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2 are the most popular, followed by Seabourn Odyssey. American Cruise Lines' American Symphony is the most popular river cruise ship, with Emerald Cruises' Emerald Star and AmaWaterways' AmaViola rounding out the top three.

      The Most Sought-After Destinations

      In the premium cruise category, travelers are most interested in exploring North America and the Caribbean, with the Bahamas, U.S. and Mexico ranking as the top countries to visit.

      The U.S. is also the top choice for luxury passengers this June, topping Canada and Greece. Europe is in-demand when it comes to river cruising, with Germany, Austria and Hungary leading the way.?

      The Most Popular Cruise Ports

      Premium cruise passengers have their sights set on the Caribbean this summer, with Royal Caribbean's Perfect Day at CocoCay private island destination and Nassau in the Bahamas being the most popular ports. Cozumel, Mexico rounds out the top three.

      Luxury travelers, meanwhile, are interested in Alaska, with Ketchikan, Sitka and Juneau being the most popular ports to visit.

      River cruisers want to experience Europe, specifically the ports of Vienna, Budapest and Passau in Germany.

      The Hottest Departure Ports

      When it comes to departure ports, premium cruise travelers prefer to leave out of Florida as Miami, Port Canaveral and Fort Lauderdale are the most popular choices. Luxury travelers' preferences are more varied, with Vancouver, Miami and Southampton, England being the most popular starting points.?

      Europe leads the way in the river cruise segment, where Budapest, Amsterdam and Paris are the most sought-after departure ports.

      Booking Windows

      Premium cruise travelers have the smallest booking window this summer, booking their sailing an average of 195 days ahead of departure. That number climbs to 203 days for luxury passengers and 230 days for river cruise guests.

      Travel Insurance Interest

      River cruise passengers are the most likely group to express interest in purchasing travel insurance at 21 percent. That figure drops to 19 percent among luxury travelers and just 17 percent for premium cruise passengers.
