12 Things You Didn't Know You Could Do on a Disney Cruise Vacation

Make the Most of Your Cruise

      1/13
Disney Cruise Line vacations are filled with endless activities, food and fun. But there's a whole different side to cruising with Disney that you might not have known existed. For example, did you know you could take a cooking class or take a special tour of the ship while on vacation? Well, you can-and so much more.

      Adults-Only Dining

      2/13
On all four Disney Cruise Line ships, there are designated restaurants that are adults-only. Palo, an Italian-inspired restaurant, can be found on each ship and serves brunch and dinner. French-inspired restaurant Remy is only two ships-Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy. Both restaurants require advanced reservations and have a strict dress code to adhere to when dining.

Learn to Cook at Palo Be Our Chef

      3/13
Found on the Disney Fantasy, Palo Be Our Chef allows cruisers to see the inner workings of the Palo kitchen and roll up their sleeves to take part in an exclusive cooking class. The classes are limited to eight people and each person gets a personalized chef's jacket as a commemorative souvenir. The class also lets guests try unique dishes and wine with Palo's master sommelier. This could be the most underrated activity aboard a Disney ship, but it's worth the extra money for such a unique experience.

Kids Can Take Part in Royal Court Royal Tea

      4/13
The prince and princess in your life can delight in a teatime created just for them aboard all four Disney Cruise Line ships. The Royal Court Royal Tea brings kids together to enjoy a meal and tea while they hear stories, dance and sing, all before some of Disney's most iconic princesses join in on the fun. All kids go home with their choice of a princess or knight-themed souvenir package. This is an additional cost and space is limited, so be sure to book this before getting on the ship.

Enjoy Themed Cruises Throughout the Year

      5/13
Throughout the year, Disney Cruise Line has four distinct themed cruises-two based on movie franchises and two specifically created for the holidays. Marvel Day at Sea and Star Wars Day at Sea feature a full day dedicated to the franchises with characters, movies and activities appropriately themed. The holiday sailings are offered around Halloween and Christmas. All four ships participate in the holiday cruises and select sailings participate in Marvel or Star Wars Day at Sea.

Catch Disney Movies on Their Theatrical Debut Date

      6/13
If you happen to be on a Disney Cruise Line vacation when a Disney movie hits theaters in the United States, you're in luck. When this happens, ships hold a midnight release party in their main theater and guests can enjoy the movie just like they would at home, popcorn and all! Films that are currently in theaters will also be shown in the Buena Vista Theater on all four ships. Movie times and titles can be found on the Personal Navigator you get each night in your stateroom.

Take a Tour of the Ship With Cast Members

      7/13
The first few days of your sailing you'll have the option to explore the ship with Disney Cruise Line Cast Members, taking you through some of the kid's areas, down hallways and dining rooms. If you're interested in the fine details of the ship, you'll definitely want to participate. Additionally, you'll learn how to navigate your way around the ship easier based on what's on the carpet in your hallway and what door hanger sea creature you have.

      Families Can Become Detectives Together

      8/13
If you're aboard the Disney Dream or Disney Fantasy, your family can become detectives together with the Midship Detective Agency interactive game. This game allows guests of all ages to go all around the ship looking for clues to discover who committed a crime aboard the ship. With multiple scenarios, you can complete one round and then start a new one. The best time to start playing is the first or second day of your trip as near the middle it becomes very popular among cruisers and it will be harder to play at certain picture points.

      Adults-Only Areas on Castaway Cay

      9/13
Each Caribbean and Bahamian Disney Cruise vacation makes a stop at Disney's private island Castaway Cay. Here is where you'll find a secret escape for adults to enjoy-Serenity Bay. This adults-only beach even comes with a bar and bbq lunch spot.

      Officer Pin Trading Night

      10/13
If you love pin trading at the Disney Parks then you aren't going to want to miss Officer Pin Trading Night, which happens once a cruise on each ship. You'll want to get to the designated location near the entrance to the Walt Disney Theater early since it gets busy quickly. Each officer from the ship is there, and are given lanyards with rare and fun pins to trade with guests. The activity lasts about 30 minutes and is a fun way to meet other people and score some great trading pins for a collection.

Adults Can Enjoy The Kids Areas Too

      11/13
During any "Open House" of the kid's area, adults can explore and play in the typically kids-only areas. Each of the four ships has a theme in their kid's spaces, but we think adults will love the Marvel and Star Wars areas. It's in these spaces where you'll find interactive games, full-size costumes of Marvel characters and droids from Star Wars, along with great photo opportunities. If you don't want to wait until the open house you can explore these areas before the ship pulls out of port on your embarkation day.

You Can Combine Two Vacations Into One

      12/13
If you're sailing to Alaska, Europe or the Caribbean, you can combine your Disney Cruise Line vacation with Adventures by Disney to create a totally customizable and streamlined vacation. By taking a cruise with an overlay, families can have curated port excursions created just for them, or add on a few days in the city before cruising. Adventure Guides will travel with you the whole way, giving you the top of the line service you would expect from Disney and the ease of travel you want when vacationing to new destinations.

You Can Order Disney's Most Popular Snack Any Time You Want

      13/13
Whether you're in the dining room or your stateroom, you can order Disney's most popular sweet treat any time you want. Yes, Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bars are available 24/7 on Disney Cruise Line and can be ordered from room service or inside the dining room. You're on vacation so eat as many as you want!
