      Scenic Summer Drives

      1/11
Summer is officially here and that means road trip season is in full effect. With thousands of convenient locations throughout the U.S., Enterprise Rent-A-Car makes it easier than ever to embark on a scenic journey down one of America's most picturesque byways. Here are 10 you won't want to miss this summer.

      Sawtooth Scenic Byway, Idaho

      2/11
Sawtooth Scenic Byway is the 100th National Forest Scenic Byway and offers travelers a mesmerizing journey as they make their way to the Idaho resort towns of Hailey, Ketchum and Sun Valley. The route also provides access to attractions such as the Sawtooth National Recreation Area and Redfish Lake.

      Scenic Byway 12, Utah

      3/11
Utah's Scenic Byway 12 stretches nearly 123 miles and is one of the nation's few scenic byways to receive the All-American Road designation as a result of its one-of-a-kind features. You can complete this route in a few hours but you'll want to stretch out your journey to give yourself plenty of time to experience the handful of nearby national parks.

Blue Ridge Parkway, Virginia and North Carolina

      4/11
Linking Virginia's Shenandoah National Park to Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina, the Blue Ridge Parkway spans nearly 470 miles along the spine of the namesake mountain chain. You'll only need to travel a few miles to see why it's so often been the most visited unit of the National Park System.

      Glenn Highway, Alaska

      5/11
Alaska's Glenn Highway certainly won't disappoint. Not only does it connect travelers with many of the most popular destinations within the Last Frontier but it provides sensational views of mountains, waterfalls, rivers and glaciers. The scenic highway even offers opportunities to pull over and get closer to nature via a quick hike.

      Turquoise Trail, New Mexico

      6/11
Turquoise Trail National Scenic Byway links Santa Fe and Albuquerque in New Mexico, traversing 50 miles highlighted by dramatic views and charming mining towns like Golden and Madrid. The latter will host Madrid Madfest, a music festival at The Mine Shaft Tavern September 21-22.

      Million Dollar Highway, Colorado

      7/11
Easily one of the most scenic drives in America, the Million Dollar Highway offers no shortage of million dollar views. Spanning about 25 miles through western Colorado, this attractive stretch is a part of the much longer San Juan Skyway Scenic and Historic Byway, an All-American Road featuring more than 230 miles of unbeatable scenery.

      A1A, Florida

      8/11
If you've got the time, Florida's scenic A1A is a rewarding drive through some of the Sunshine State's best oceanfront towns, stretching all the way along the state's Atlantic coast from Key West to Fernandina Beach just south of the Georgia border. This is a route that beach bums can't afford to miss.

      Beach Boulevard, Mississippi

      9/11
You won't need more than an hour to make the scenic drive along the Gulf Coast from Waveland to Biloxi, Mississippi but with destinations like Bay St. Louis and Gulfport along the way, you'd be wise to give yourself at least a day to experience a relaxing 30-mile drive along the Beach Boulevard Scenic Byway.

      Historic Columbia River Highway, Oregon

      10/11
Oregon's Historic Columbia River Highway has been called America's Greatest Scenic Drive and it's hard to argue that it's anything else but. The 75-mile-long route traverses the Columbia River Gorge and boasts the distinction of being the first planned scenic roadway in the country. It's one of the few routes in America considered to be a destination unto itself so take your time and soak it all in.

      Skyline Drive, Virginia

      11/11
Skyline Drive encompasses 105 miles of postcard-worthy scenery and is the only public road through Virginia's Shenandoah National Park. The route features nearly 70 overlooks so you'll have plenty of opportunities for photos. In addition to breathtaking views, you're likely to spot wildlife, including deer and wild turkey during your drive. Stick to the posted speed limit of 35 mph and you can cruise comfortably with the windows down.
