Road trips continue to be one of the most popular ways to explore in the U.S. but why not go farther afield with an iconic journey through the U.K.

For those looking to travel a coastal route, Enterprise suggests a journey through the Southwest of England on the Atlantic Highway where road trippers will find lush forests and a stunning coastline.

Road trippers will find beautiful beaches around and charming fishing villages along the A39 which hugs the coastline.

Travelers with kids will want to head to Widemouth Bay for swimming. The beach has plenty of facilities, lifeguards and acres of sand.

Bude Sea Pool is another must. The protected beach offers the beauty of swimming in the sea without the waves or danger of tides.

Visit Tintagel Castle, perched on a clifftop, it is presumed to be the birthplace of King Arthur as well as a residence for Celtic kings.

Discover a 60-foot waterfall tucked away in a hidden valley with a stop at St Nectan's Glen. The locale is said to be frequented by Cornish pixies and visitors will see offerings left around the plunge pool.

Enterprise also recommends traveling along Northern Ireland's Causeway Coastal Route for some of the area's most renowned natural wonders. This 120-mile drive from Belfast to Londonderry offers a diverse and scenic glimpse into the country.

This natural wonder is a must-see when visiting Northern Ireland. The 40,000 interlocking basalt columns are the result of an ancient volcanic eruption. It is located approximately 3 miles from the town of Bushmills and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Discover the cosmopolitan city of Belfast, which is fast becoming one of the most important destinations in Europe. Right now, it's biggest claim to fame is one of the central locations for filming the wildly popular HBO series "Game of Thrones." Fans are flocking to the city and the region to see filming locations as the show wrapped up in May.

The Dark Hedges is an avenue of beech trees along Bregagh Road in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. This is a must for fans of Game of Thrones, who will recognize the road as the King's Road in the series' second season.
