      Killing Time Just Got Fun

      1/16
There's nothing worse than a long layover that isn't quite long enough to let you venture outside of the airport and into your new destination. Fortunately, some of the world's major airports are giving travelers added incentive to stay close to their gate.

      Singapore Changi Airport

      2/16
Singapore's Changi Airport rivals some high-end resorts when it comes to amenities. After all, how many airports have you seen with a rooftop pool, a two-story butterfly garden and a 40-foot-tall slide? There are also two movie theaters open 24 hours a day.

      Denver International Airport

      3/16
This smart airport boasts free Wi-Fi along with more than 140 shops, restaurants and other services so you can rest assured a long layover won't be boring. Recently named one of the "Best U.S. Airports for Art," Denver International Airport is home to dozens of permanent eye-catching exhibits that will have passengers feeling more as if they're in a museum than an airport.

      Incheon International Airport

      4/16
Got a few hours to spend before your flight out of Seoul? There are worse places to be stuck than Incheon International Airport, which features in-house spas offering relaxing massages, a 72-hole golf club available via shuttle bus, a casino and calming eco gardens. Passengers will also have numerous opportunities to soak in South Korean culture through parades, dance performances and other events.

      San Francisco International Airport

      5/16
Kill some time between your flights at San Francisco International Airport with a relaxing session inside the world's first airport yoga room or decompress in the reflection room. Meanwhile, traveling families will enjoy multiple interactive play areas for children along with self-guided tours and museum exhibits.

      Dubai International Airport

      6/16
Dubai International Airport is among the world's best if you're looking to rest up ahead of your next flight. In addition to the Dubai International Hotel located at the airport, passengers can catch some much-needed z's inside igloo-style sleep pods or bed- and television-equipped SnoozeCubes that rival a small hotel room. This airport also boasts some of the world's best duty-free shopping.

      Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

      7/16
Pass the time in Amsterdam by diving into some Dutch culture at Holland Boulevard, where passengers can engage in interactive activities at the Nemo science museum or select a book from the world's first airport library. There's also the free Rijksmuseum and an array of shopping and dining options to be discovered.

      Zurich Airport

      8/16
Whether you're flying solo or with a group, Zurich Airport has something to spice up your long layover. Take in some fresh air and exciting views of departing and arriving aircraft on one of the passenger observation decks, let the children tire out at the kids' lounge or check into the Transit Hotel for some rest and relaxation.

      Hong Kong International Airport

      9/16
Hong Kong International Airport is arguably the world's most entertaining. Passengers in the midst of a long layover can try their hand at simulation golf games, experience the world's first airport IMAX theater or tour the Aviation Discovery Center and Dream Come True Education Park.

      Vancouver International Airport

      10/16
If your idea of killing time on a long layover is shopping 'til you drop, you'll want to be at Vancouver International Airport. The terminal is just a short SkyTrain ride from the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, which recently announced expansion plans that will add 84,000 square feet of additional retail space and as many as 35 new brands.

      Melbourne Airport

      11/16
Maybe you need a place to stay the night or perhaps just a quiet space to recharge for a few hours. Either way, Melbourne Airport's ParkRoyal hotel has you covered with the option to book a day-use room for three, five or eight hours. Looking for something more extreme? In 2019, Urbnsurf Melbourne, Australia's first surf park generating surfable waves day and night, will debut at the airport.

      Auckland Airport

      12/16
Elsewhere in Oceania, Auckland Airport has the shopping, dining and lounge space to keep you satisfied between flights. Strata Club members can earn reward points at numerous stops throughout the airport while the Strata Lounge allows less frequent passengers to secure a comfortable stay from anywhere from three to eight hours.

      Portland International Airport

      13/16
Sure, Portland International Airport has the free Wi-Fi, shopping and dining that most travelers are looking for ahead of their flight. However, the airport is also a great place to absorb art, music and culture. PDX's art program features nine changing exhibits highlighting local artists and there's live music in the terminal daily. There's even a 17-seat movie theatre in Concourse C dedicated to short films specific to the Pacific Northwest.

      Tokyo Haneda Airport

      14/16
Avgeeks will love Tokyo's Haneda International Airport because it features a sweeping flight observation deck and flight simulators. There are also loads of places to shop and plenty of opportunities to relax with massage treatments and 24/7 shower rooms.

      Munich Airport

      15/16
An extended layover at Munich Airport is no problem thanks to Airbrau. The authentic brewpub is far from your average pre-flight stop, featuring traditional German beer and cuisine as well as live entertainment and Europe's largest roofed-in beer garden. If that won't do it, head over to the Bodystreet Fitness Studio to burn off some steam before your departure.

      Heathrow Airport

      16/16
London's Heathrow Airport has something for everyone, from business travelers to families. Check out the View Heathrow observation deck for 270-degree panoramic views of the runway and flight-tracking touchscreens to follow along or reserve complimentary personal shopping at Heathrow Boutique. Meanwhile, FlyFit is scheduled to open its first wellness and fitness studio at the airport in 2018, offering passengers strength, yoga and cardio classes ahead of their flight.
