HX Expeditions is making waves in 2025 with two groundbreaking initiatives that demonstrate its commitment to authentic travel experiences and environmental stewardship.

This summer, HX will launch an unprecedented community-led excursion program in Arctic Canada, developed in partnership with Inuit Elders, local residents and community-born staff.?

The program debuts across three remote communities in the eastern Canadian Arctic¡ªGj?a Haven, Pond Inlet, and Cambridge Bay¡ªaccessible only during the brief summer window.?

These excursions will be featured on HX's 25-day Northwest Passage sailings, with westbound journeys from Greenland to Alaska aboard the MS Fridtjof Nansen and eastbound routes from Alaska to Greenland on the MS Roald Amundsen, the world's first battery hybrid-powered cruise ship.

Each excursion has been carefully crafted with Inuit hosts to provide guests with rare insights into daily life, culture, and traditions in one of the world's most pristine environments. This authentic approach ensures travelers gain meaningful connections while supporting local communities.?

Complementing this cultural initiative, HX has partnered with broadcaster and Marine Conservationist Monty Halls to launch an ambitious citizen science project addressing marine conservation and plastic pollution.?

The Big Blue Bag program empowers people and communities worldwide to participate in simple yet impactful conservation actions that protect beaches, rivers, and waterways.

The initiative includes four easy-to-follow conservation protocols that allow participants to collect vital data on marine health, including microplastic pollution, species biodiversity, water temperature, and coastal debris. Users can upload their findings to a global database through Coreo, a specialized app that makes contributing to vital conservation research accessible to everyone.

Every HX ship will carry a Big Blue Bag, enabling guests to participate in conservation protocols across more than 250 destinations from the North to South poles, creating a truly global network of citizen scientists working toward marine protection.
