G Adventures will launch a new expedition ship for the upcoming Antarctica season this winter, operating five Antarctica expedition itineraries.?
The new ship, currently named Ocean Adventurer, will replace the brand¡¯s ship Expedition. It has enough space to accommodate 128 travelers and will provide an enhanced onboard experience. It will also adopt the Expedition name once the transition is complete. It was previously chartered through Danish maritime company SunStone.?
The ship is 102 meters long and features a restaurant and bar, a large presentation lounge, library, fitness area and observation and sundeck with outdoor jacuzzis. There are 70 cabins, some of which are suites with larger windows. Additionally, the ship will allow for multi-share twin or triple cabin configurations.

¡°The new ship marks an exciting leap forward¡ªone that will allow us to continue delivering life-changing expeditions for our travelers, aboard a more comfortable and efficient vessel, while making big advancements in our climate goals as well,¡± said founder Bruce Poon Tip. ¡°Our initial calculations estimate that the overall carbon footprint per person per day will drop by up to 30% as we transition to the new ship. It will also give us the opportunity to evaluate our wider polar program and opportunities for expansion¡ªso watch this space!¡±
G Adventures¡¯ Antarctica expeditions provide at least 14 expedition experts, specializing in subjects like ornithology and marine biology, leading experiences like camping excursions and sea kayaking.?
In late April, the tour operator became the US Tour Operators Association¡¯s 51st active member. It has been in operation as a community tourism and small-group operator since 1990.?
