      Sandals Sale Rumors, New Resort Openings & More: Hotel & Resort News From March

      As we turn the page from one month to the next, let¡¯s check out the biggest headlines concerning hotels and resorts that we covered in March.?

      There was a lot of big news this past month: plenty of new resorts celebrated their debut in March, while Beaches made the announcement it¡¯s spending about $1 billion to expand into three new Caribbean destinations. Additionally, Sandals is toying with the idea of selling itself for a reported $7 billion, while hotel giants detail their recent and upcoming brand expansions.?

      Big News for Sandals & Beaches Resorts

      Sandals Resorts and Beaches Resorts both made some big headlines this past month.?

      Beaches Resorts unveiled a new plan to expand the family-friendly resort brand, worth nearly $1 billion in spending. The resort brand will open three new resorts in the Caribbean: Beaches Barbados, Beaches Exuma and Beaches Runaway Bay.?

      Beaches Turks and Caicos is also now accepting reservations for its expansion opening in 2026. The Treasure Beach Village is a $150 million expansion with new family-centric accommodations, dining, experiences and more.?

      There was also a report this March that Sandals Resorts is looking into selling itself to a different hotel corporation for a reported $6 billion to $7 billion. Sandals Resorts, which also owns Beaches Resorts, has been family owned since its inception in 1981.?

      New Hotels & Resorts Opening This Year?

      March was a big month for new hotels and resorts opening: ZEL Punta Cana, Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana, Terra Luna Resort at Universal Orlando, and Salterra, a Luxury Collection Resort & Spa, all celebrated openings this month.?

      New Hotels & Resorts Coming Soon

      Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roat¨¢n Render

      TravelPulse also reported on several future hotel and resort projects to look forward to in the years to come. These include the Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roat¨¢n, expected to open in 2027. The resort will be the third in the all-inclusive brand and will offer 170 rooms and suites on the popular Honduran island.?

      The Royalton CHIC Jamaica Paradise Cove will open late next year at Runaway Bay, Jamaica. The adults-only all-inclusive resort will feature 345 suites, multiple dining venues and much more. The property will be part of Marriott¡¯s Autograph Collection.?

      Lastly, the Waldorf Astoria Texas Hill Country will be opening in 2027. Managed by Hilton, the property will offer hotel space and residences, five food and beverage options, an 11,000-square-foot spa and more.

      Global Brand Expansions for Accor, Marriott

      Global brand expansions continued in March for Accor and Marriott both.?

      Accor is aiming to grow its luxury brands in North America and its all-inclusive offerings in Central America with some exciting new ideas, while Marriott is continuing its record-breaking growth of the past few years, mainly with new all-inclusive resorts and resort brands.?

      Marriott also celebrated the addition of The Palace Madrid to its Luxury Collection portfolio this month. The historic hotel in the Spanish capital city dates back over a hundred years and has welcomed some of the most notable people of the time, including Ernest Hemingway and Pablo Picasso.??
