Two key Caribbean travel destinations are poised to expand their air connectivity with U.S. cities.

Southwest Airlines will launch daily nonstop flights between Orlando International Airport (MCO) and the Cayman Islands¡¯ Owen Roberts International Airport (GCM) beginning June 4.

The new route, resulting from Southwest¡¯s relocation of its hub from Fort Lauderdale to Orlando, provides Southwest travelers with ¡°an efficient connection point from the West Coast and Mid-west region of the United States¡± to the Cayman Islands, said Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) officials in a statement.

The new flights will operate daily, except from mid-August through October, when the schedule will contract to Saturdays only, before daily service resumes in November.

¡°We congratulate Southwest on a successful move to Orlando and are happy that the Cayman Islands¡¯ seat capacity from Florida is stabilized,¡± said Rosa Harris, CIDOT¡¯s director.

¡°The introduction of direct, daily flights from Orlando gives northern Floridians the opportunity to explore more of what the Cayman Islands has to offer and allows Cayman residents to explore Orlando's many parks and attractions,¡± she said.

Meanwhile, American Airlines will increase its nonstop services from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Dominica¡¯s Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM) from three times a week to daily from June 5 through August 5 and from October 7 through March 31, 2025.

For travelers using San Juan as a connecting point, Silver Airways offers codeshare agreements with American Airlines, JetBlue, Delta and United. Silver offers six weekly Dominica-San Juan flights, with inbound flights departing from Monday to Saturday and outbound flights departing from Tuesday to Sunday.
