Singapore Airlines is the best carrier for travelers hoping to catch some much-needed Zs on their next flight.

Sleep-tracking app Sleepagotchi recently published the 2025 Airline Sleep Score Index, analyzing 50 of the world’s top airlines across four important sleep-related categories, including legroom and seat width, cabin lighting and social sentiment based on airline reviews and social media conversations such as X (formerly Twitter) rants.

Asia's Singapore Airlines ranks first with an overall score of 96.8 out of 100. The carrier was propelled to the top by its generous seat dimensions, circadian-aware lighting and consistently high passenger satisfaction, according to Sleepagotchi.

Other international carriers to earn impressive marks include Qantas, Air New Zealand and Emirates.

Australia's flag carrier, Qantas, scored 94 out of 100. However, its score jumps to 95.3 when flying its upcoming "Project Sunrise" lighting-enhanced cabins. Meanwhile, Air New Zealand earned a 93.1 out of 100, with help from its Skycouch economy seats and soon-to-come?Skynest economy sleep pods?(arriving in 2026) that allow passengers to lie down.

On the other end of the spectrum, overseas budget carriers Ryanair, EasyJet and Wizz Air all tied for close to last place with a dismal 65.7 out of 100, faring the worst among major carriers analyzed.

Cramped seating, poor lighting conditions for sleep and other factors hurt these carriers in the rankings.

Other takeaways from the index include premium economy offerings from not only Singapore Airlines but also Alaska Airlines that are helping travelers get shuteye without breaking the bank. Both airlines' aforementioned offerings scored nearly as high as some business class cabins.

It's not just about seat comfort, however, as the Sleepagotchi found cabin lighting to be a competitive differentiator for carriers that have embraced sleep-supportive LED technology.
