      Glamorous Camping

      1/16
Glamping has been the hip thing to do for several years now, which likely means that soon the cool kids will be moving onto the next big thing. But in the meantime, here's a look at some of the most intriguing glamping experiences around the world. And for those who still aren't up to speed, glamping is simply a trendy way of saying luxury camping or glamorous camping. (Think of it as the travel industry's version of Brangelina or Bennifer.)

      Tena Tena Camp, Zambia

      2/16
Tena Tena translated means "temporary home." This camp offers visitors a temporary home in the form of luxury tents, each with its own window and a view of the Luangwa River where hippos wallow and lions are known to roam. Tena Tena is located in Zambia's South Luangwa National Park, a place that marks the end of the Great Rift Valley and is described as one of the last remaining unspoiled wilderness areas in Africa.

      Paws Up, Montana

      3/16
The safari-style tents at Paws Up in Montana are designed to allow guests to get close to nature and intimate with life's little luxuries. Located in the heart of Montana's stunning untamed wilderness, the tents include hardwood floors, fine linens, air conditioning and heat and en-suite baths with heated slate floors. All this and you are surrounded by nature.

Clayoquot Wilderness Resort, Vancouver Island, British Columbia

      4/16
Clayoquot Wilderness Resort represents luxury camping at its finest. Imagine a five-star resort sans concrete walls but replete with antique furnishings and champagne toasts. The camp is a turn-of-the-century style outpost that includes 25 tents arranged on a hill overlooking an estuary. Ensuite tents, the most deluxe of the tents available, include such details as king beds, bathrooms with heated floors and private outdoor showers.

aha Thakadu River Camp, South Africa

      5/16
Located within a riverine canopy in the eastern sector of Madikwe Game Reserve surrounded by an impressive diversity of fauna and flora, aha Thakadu River Camp offers five-star tented suites. Each of the 12 tented suites has air conditioning and viewing decks overlooking the Marico River.

      Sandat Glamping, Bali

      6/16
A trip to Bali is fabulous no matter where you're bunking. But Sandat Glamping makes the experience significantly more memorable. One of the most exclusive destinations in the green rice fields of Ubud, this Bali retreat offers five magnificent tents, each of which has a private pool overlooking a forest and is surrounded by tropical gardens. And if that's not enough, they all have spectacular indoor bathrooms too.

      andBeyond Chobe Under Canvas, Botswana

      7/16
So many stunning glamping opportunities and so little time. This droolworthy choice in the Okavango Delta includes nine air-conditioned tented suites, private plunge pools and outdoor and indoor showers. The andBeyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp is located deep in the heart of the game-rich Okavango Delta on its own Delta island within an exclusive wildlife concession.

      Nomade Tulum, Mexico

      8/16
Having a stunning glamping experience does not require traveling half-way around the world. Nomade Tulum's signature tents are nestled amid the jungle in Mexico just steps from the Caribbean sea. Each of the tents are made with natural elements and feature private showers and bathrooms and wooden verandas to observe and connect with nature. The tents are also outfitted with king beds and premium linens.

      Scarabeo Camp, Morocco

      9/16
Morocco is already a fantastically exotic destination and glamping while in this north African country is a great way to further indulge in its magic and charm. Scarabeo's oriental-inspired tents are decorated with unique sourced pieces, locally crafted artwork, African woven matting and Berber rugs. The company's Stone Desert Camp, located about 45 minutes outside of Marrakech, provides breathtaking 360-degree views of the desert and the snow-covered Atlas mountains.

      Collective Yellowstone, Montana

      10/16
If there were luxury tents in the wild west at the turn of the century, they would likely look something like those found at Collective Yellowstone. Think high-end dude ranch d¨¦cor mixed with over-the-bed chandeliers and 500 thread-count linens. Additional amenities include Montana-made wood burning stoves and private decks. The setting outside the tents is equally charming. The camp is located within Big Sky's exclusive Moonlight Basin community, set on freshwater pond and bounded by mountains.

      Singita Tented Camp, Tanzania

      11/16
This Singita Sabora Tented Camp is a double win in terms of a unique travel experience. To begin with, it is the epitome of sustainable tourism, a place that works hard to eliminate unnecessary use of energy and non-biodegradable materials. The camp accommodations meanwhile are bohemian chic and feature spun natural fabrics, Maasai primary colors and elegant pieces by African designers and craftsman. Days at Singita meanwhile are spent taking part in game drives. When evening arrives, it's time to sit back and observe nocturnal Africa.

      Cultus Camp, California

      12/16
Yet another option closer to home, Cultus Camp is a preserve and retreat that offers a glamping tent cabin in an isolated corner of Joshua Tree that makes visitors feel like they're a world away. The tent includes a private bathroom and an outdoor shower with views that showcase the surrounding desert environment. The cabin is also equipped with a writer's desk and a vintage Royal typewriter in case guests feel inspired while visiting. Morning tea and sunsets can be enjoyed from the cabin's 34-foot raised deck. The campgrounds meanwhile are an art installation offering much for visitors to explore.

      Camp Cecil, Isla Espiritu Santo

      13/16
Espiritu Santo National Park, in the Sea of Cortez, is a famed UNESCO World Heritage site, known for being one of the best marine life viewing destinations in the world. Located amid this stunning setting, on a beautiful beach, is Camp Cecil. The camp is made up of beautifully decorated walk-in tents that include real beds, fine linens, rugs, chairs, and more. Days at the camp will be spent doing whatever you fancy - kayaking, snorkeling, hiking, swimming with sea lions or bird watching. In between all of that, there are hidden lagoons, cave art and deserted beaches to explore.

      Ventana Big Sur, California

      14/16
Big Sur is legendary for its natural beauty, which includes the convergence of sky, sea and mountains. There are probably few better ways to take it all in then glamping. Ventana's Redwood Canyon Glampsites aim to put visitors in the middle of it all without skimping on comfort. The 15 new safari-style tents include custom-designed plush mattresses, luxury hotel linens and views of a 20-acre canyon. The camp's bathhouse includes teak-enclosed showers, heated floors and marble vanities.

      15/16
