      Christmas Movies

      1/16
Most years, you snuggle on the couch with Christmas cookies and hot cocoa to watch your favorite Christmas films. Not this year! Hit the road and visit the exact locations your favorite Christmas movies were filmed. You'll make new memories and feel a little closer to your favorite Christmas characters.

      A Christmas Story

      2/16
Want to see the exact place where Ralphie wished for his Red Ryder air rifle? You can! Ralphie's home is now known as A Christmas Story House & Museum and has been restored to look exactly as it did in the film. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, you can tour the home seven days a week and see original props, costumes, and behind-the-scenes photographs from the movie. Those who are super fans can even stay the night in the Christmas Story house or the house next door, which was home to Ralphie's hillbilly neighbors, the Bumpuses.

      Miracle on 34th Street

      3/16
Despite being set in New York City, Miracle on 34th Street was primarily filmed in Chicago. The Art Institute of Chicago was used as the exterior of the department store, CF Coles, and the Lincoln Park Zoo was used in place of a scene set in Central Park Zoo. You can also visit the church where Dorey and Bryan were married. It's called the Holy Name Cathedral and it's found on Wabash Avenue.

      Home Alone

      4/16
Fans loved watching Kevin and his crazy antics in the beloved Christmas movie, Home Alone. Most of the film was shot in Winnetka, a suburb of Chicago, with a few scenes shot elsewhere like Chicago O'Hare International Airport. The McCallister home, and the bad guys' home, still stands on Lincoln Avenue in Winnetka. The park that Kevin runs away from a police officer in is Hubbards Woods Park. Trinity United Methodist Church in Wilmette was used as the church where Kevin hides in the Nativity scene.

      Elf

      5/16
Just as Elf was set in New York City, it was also filmed in New York City. Follow Buddy's footsteps in the Big Apple by visiting Gimbles, which was set in a building on 5th Avenue and E 30th. The spot where Buddy eats gum off a subway rail is the subway at E 23rd and Broadway, and the quirky elf's discovery of revolving doors occurs at 10 West 33rd Street. Hit the ice skating rink at the Rockefeller Center, like Jovie and Buddy do in the film, or go visit Walter's workplace at 55 Central Park West.

      A Christmas Carol (1984)

      6/16
Fans of A Christmas Carol have the unique opportunity to visit a charming English town called Shrewsbury to see where the film was made. Shrewsbury was one of Dickens' favorite towns and ironically, the site where he gave the first public reading of "A Christmas Carol" in the town's Music Hall. Visit Shrewsbury today and you'll want to see the Square which was used in the movie's opening scene, and the graveyard at St. Chad's as it is still home to Ebenezer Scrooge's grave.

      Love Actually

      7/16
There are quite a few filming locations of Love Actually throughout London, though some of the easiest to visit may be the Selfridges Department Store, London Heathrow Airport, Oxo Tower Wharf, Gabriel's Wharf, and the Canary Wharf London Underground Station. If you and your partner are looking to get hitched, you can do so where Peter and Juliet had their wedding at the Grosvenor Chapel in Mayfair. And the famous scene where Mark tells Juliet he loves her with cards? It was filmed in St. Luke's Mew in Notting Hill.

      Jingle All The Way

      8/16
Sinbad and Arnold Schwarzenegger battle it out for a Turbo Man toy in Jingle All The Way, a hilarious Christmas movie filmed in none other than St. Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Mall of America is perhaps the most recognizable filming location, though the same could be said for Mickey's Diner in St. Paul and Zumbor Cafe in Minneapolis. The homes used in the film for Ted and Howard's homes are located in Edina and Minneapolis.

      The Santa Clause

      9/16
Despite being set in an Illinois town, The Santa Clause was shot primarily in and around Toronto, Canada. Scott's home, where Santa Clause falls and ultimately passes on the hat to Scott, is located on Chisolm Street in Oakville, a suburb of Toronto. The Toronto Zoo makes an appearance in the movie, primarily in using the zoo's reindeer for the film. And that park where the little girl asks Scott for a bike? It's Hillcrest Park in Toronto.

      National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

      10/16
While you can't see the Griswold family's Christmas-decorated home as it was shot on the Warner Bros. Ranch facility, you can see a few sites from the film in Chicago and Breckenridge, Colorado. Clark's office can be found in Chicago at 69 West Washington Street. As far as Breckenridge goes, the Griswold's cut their Christmas tree in the Breckenridge Golf Course/Highlands area near Tiger Rd, and Clark performed his famous sled scene at the Breckenridge Ski area on Peak 8.

      Bad Santa

      11/16
If you want to channel Bad Santa this Christmas, head to the Los Angeles area. Start by visiting Willie T. Stokes' home in the San Fernando Valley on Whitehall Lane in West Hills, California. Then make your way to beach towns like Venice Beach to see the exterior of O'Hara's Pub at 1100 Abbott Kinney Blvd, and Long Beach to see the scene where the girls play volleyball at Harbor Plaza At Queensway Drive. You can even stay in a few hotels that appear in the movie, such as El Capitan Motor Inn which was used for the motel scene, and The Aztec Hotel in Monrovia, home to the Mayan Bar and Grill which you'll recognize as the bar where Sue works.

      The Holiday

      12/16
Cameron Diaz and Kate Winslet were a stunning duo in The Holiday. If you want to follow Amanda's (Diaz) footsteps, you'll have to book a long flight to Shere, UK. Walk through Shere and you'll recognize the adorable village Iris calls home. Travel to Godalming to take the same shopping trip that Amanda took and the Cornwell Manor in Oxfordshire to see where Amanda and Graham had a romantic date. As far as Iris' (Winslet) holiday in Los Angeles, make a reservation at The Grill on the Alley restaurant in Beverly Hills to eat in the same spot where Arthur and Iris had lunch together. Miles' home in The Holiday is the famous Ohara house, designed by Richard Neutra and located in the Neutra Colony.

      This Christmas

      13/16
The 2007 film This Christmas starred legendary actors like Idris Elba and Regina King and told the story of an African American family reuniting for Christmas at their mother's home in Los Angeles. Book a flight to LA to see locations where This Christmas was filmed like The Grove, an outdoor mall in Glendale, Union Station in downtown, El Rey Theater on Wilshire Blvd, and St. Vincent Catholic Church. Keep in mind that as soon as you land at Los Angeles International Airport, you'll be able to check off your first filming location of this lovable movie.

      Scrooged

      14/16
Bill Murray played Frank Cross, a Scrooge-like TV executive, living in New York City in a Christmas movie called Scrooged. If you happen to be in NYC for Christmas this year, make your way to Fifth Avenue and the subway at 45th and 23rd Street Station, both of which make appearances in the film. Perhaps the most notable filming location in Scrooged is Cross' office, which was shot in the Seagram Building on Park Avenue and 53rd Street.

      Prancer

      15/16
Celebrate Prancer's 30th-year anniversary by visiting the movie's filming locations in Three Oaks, Michigan. Three Oaks is a small town of 1,600 people so you'll quickly recognize the town and notable places like the Three Oaks United Methodist Church in Prancer. Not everything was filmed in Three Oaks. The Riggs Fruit Farm, notable for its bright red barn, was shot in La Porte, Indiana, and Mrs. McFarland's House was shot in New Carlisle, Indiana. While it may be too cold to hike in the park in December, Starved Rock State Park in Utica, Illinois, also made an appearance in Prancer.

      Last Christmas

      16/16
Last Christmas released on November 8, 2019, and it's getting a lot of buzz. Head to London after you watch the movie on the big screen so you can see where Kate and Tom get to know each other in this holiday film. According to IMDB, The Swedish Church and St. Mary's Church in Marylebone were both used as filming locations for Last Christmas, as was the Alexandra Palace Ice Rink, Cecil Court, and the Brixton Outdoor Market.
