      High-End Hotspots

      1/11
Global luxury travel network Virtuoso recently reviewed insights garnered by users of its free interactive social site for travel dreaming and planning, Wanderlist, to find out where high net worth clients are traveling to next. While some of the world's most sought-after places continue to be closed to tourists amid the COVID-19 pandemic, here's a look at the 10 countries travelers are most anticipating in the future.

      Italy

      2/11
Home to a plethora of coveted cities such as Rome, Venice, Milan and Florence, among others, Italy continues to be a top target for affluent travelers seeking a luxurious getaway outside of the United States. The country has reopened to Americans who can avoid quarantine with proof of COVID-19 vaccination, proof of recovery from the virus or recent negative test results.

      Greece

      3/11
Europe features heavily among the top 10, and Greece is just another example of the continent's dominance in terms of attracting big spenders. A hub for ancient history and culture, the country also boasts some of the best beaches anywhere in the world. Picturesque locales such as Santorini are also likely to be a hit with high net worth travelers in the months to come.

      France

      4/11
The world's most visited country prior to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, France remains as alluring as ever, from an international icon in sprawling Paris to the lesser-experienced but no less charming Bordeaux.

      Japan

      5/11
The 2020 Summer Olympics host remains a popular place among wealthy travelers despite continuing to be closed to Americans who wish to visit for tourism purposes. Whether in search of immersion in the country's rich culture, world-class shopping or sightseeing attractions both natural and manmade, travelers have no shortage of exciting things to do in Japan.

      Ireland

      6/11
The Emerald Isle offers prosperous individuals an English-speaking blend of history, culture and unparalleled scenery just across the Atlantic Ocean. Ireland recently reopened to Americans who can visit without testing or quarantine requirements if they can prove they've been vaccinated against the coronavirus.

      Australia

      7/11
While it's likely no surprise that travelers with big budgets can't wait to visit Australia, many will have to wait a bit longer before they're able to do so as the country doesn't plan to reopen its borders to international travelers until at least 80 percent of its population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to Prime Minister Scott Morrison.

      Spain

      8/11
Another European destination that recently reopened to Americans with limited restrictions, Spain certainly appeals to travelers with expensive tastes as it's one of the world's top places for art, architecture, culture, cuisine and so much more.

      Scotland

      9/11
From exploring the epic Edinburgh Castle to navigating Loch Ness, Scotland is chock-full of once-in-a-lifetime experiences that today's luxury travelers are seeking. Visitors with deep pockets can also stay longer and see and do more, perhaps even playing a round of golf at historic St. Andrews.

      Mexico

      10/11
Mexico is an ideal destination for a luxe vacation offering relaxation in paradise in addition to adventure, rich culture, an abundance of archaeological sites and mouthwatering cuisine. The country was among the first to reopen to Americans last year and continues to be one of the most accessible with a multitude of flight and hotel and resort options and minimal travel requirements.

      Iceland

      11/11
Iceland is no longer flying under the radar as an exceptional overseas destination. High net worth travelers are undoubtedly interested in the array of adventures this country offers, from enjoying a geothermal bath at Blue Lagoon to sailing the scenic coast via a high-end cruise.
