      Live that Salt Life

      1/26
Since time began, man has always attributed healing properties to the seashore. The combination of warmth, sand, salt water and other people has a calming, restorative effect that just makes life better. This summer, make your way to some of the most famous beaches in the world. Those on this list were picked because they are well-known, unique and have plenty of reasons for you to book your next trip to stick your toes in their sands.

      South Beach (Miami, Florida)

      2/26
The relaxation that takes hold over a day at "SOBE" transforms into something altogether more active when the sun goes down and some of the world's hottest restaurants and nightclubs are just footsteps away.

      Waikiki (Honolulu, Hawaii)

      3/26
Once a playground for Hawaiian royalty, Waikiki is blessed with perfect temperatures and amazing sands. Some of the world's best resorts are lined up along this narrow strip of paradise.

      Anse Source d'Argent (Seychelles)

      4/26
One of the most photographed places on the planet, this heavenly piece of Seychelles deserves to be experienced up close and personal. It's so beautiful, scholars once believed it was the Biblical Garden of Eden.

      Copacabana (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

      5/26
No, this isn't the place made famous by the Barry Manilow song-though, some of you are undoubtedly singing it anyway. Known around the world for being one of the most active and beautiful beaches around, many were reintroduced thanks to the 2016 Summer Olympics.

      Tulum (Mexico)

      6/26
Just moments from some of the world's most historic and ancient ruins, Tulum also boasts rock formations, magnificent sand and turquoise waters that have drawn people to the area since long before those ruins were built!

      Santa Monica Beach (California)

      7/26
The beach may be only the beginning in this fun and funky location which includes a Ferris Wheel and plenty of things to do for all kinds of travelers. Still, during the day you can practice your "Baywatch" run down the white sands and into the water. At night, that sunset is absolutely perfect.

      Bondi Beach (Sydney, Australia)

      8/26
Since it juts out into the Pacific Ocean, there are stretches of Bondi Beach where casual swimmers need to be very careful. However, this stretch of land near Sydney is the quintessential beach destination for most European travelers thanks to the beautiful sands, good surfing and nearby shopping and restaurants-among the world's best.

      Crystal Bay (Bali, Indonesia)

      9/26
If you're going to Crystal Bay, you need to snorkle, period. The waters are (as the name suggests) crystal clear and the underwater wildlife is unlike anything you've experienced. Those more experienced can do their diving further offshore, which opens up a new and magnificent world.

      Kamari Beach (Santorini, Greece)

      10/26
Santorini is one of the most picturesque places in the world, but those who admire it from afar typically picture the white and blue buildings and cliffs overlooking the sea. These volcanic black sand beaches, however, steal the show for those who visit Santorini.

      James Bond Island (Phuket, Thailand)

      11/26
The limestone karst towers are among the world's most iconic natural formations, thanks in no small part to the James Bond movie, "The Man with the Golden Gun." The nearby sandy beaches were also filming locations and tourists can spend their time swimming and sunbathing before darting around the bay.

      Renaissance Island (Aruba)

      12/26
This private island is for Renaissance Aruba Resort & Casino guests which makes it one of the most exclusive locations on this list. This tropical oasis comes complete with pink flamingos and iguanas to go along with one of the most romantic locations on the planet.

Trunk Bay (St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands)

      13/26
This beautiful beach has an entrance fee being part of Virgin Islands National Park. It's well worth it, however, because of the beautiful trails and sugar plantations to go along with the absolutely stunning waters.

      The Baths (British Virgin Islands)

      14/26
One could spent hours (or days) exploring the granite rocks, grottos and coves around The Baths. However, take time to relax at "Top of the Baths" which is a fantastic cliff-top restaurant with some of the best views in the Caribbean.

      Navagio Beach (Zakynthos, Greece)

      15/26
Alternatively called Smuggler's Cove and Shipwreck Beach, Navagio Beach is a limestone gravel beach surrounded by huge cliffs and includes its very own shipwreck (rumored to have been carrying contraband for the Italian Mafia).

Lover's Beach (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico)

      16/26
Lover's Beach is known for the arch (El Arco) which is one of the most iconic photographs tourists search out in all of Mexico. More than just the arch, however, Lover's Beach also features fantastic snorkeling and glass-bottomed kayaking along. Ironically, "Divorce Beach" is right next door.

Pink Sands Beach (Harbor Island, Bahamas)

      17/26
The pink hue of this beach comes from the shells of coral insects along with some coral itself. Interestingly enough, this also keeps the sand cool no matter how much sun is beating down on it.

Beach of the Cathedrals (Rinadeo, Spain)

      18/26
Spain is a favorite holiday vacation for many Western Europeans and Beach of the Cathedrals is one of the more unique destinations. Nearby Ribadeo is a small fishing village but is very welcoming for travelers and the beach itself is studded with unique caves, grottos and the arches which give the site its name.

      Tamarindo Beach (Guanacaste, Costa Rica)

      19/26
The surfing and sunsets at this Costa Rican beach vie for the top prize of what has made it famous over the years, but the wonderful people of Costa Rica are the real underrated facet of visiting this beach.

Maya Bay (Phi Phi Islands, Thailand)

      20/26
Thanks to Leonardo DiCaprio, this otherwordly location started to become known simply as "The Beach" after the movie that filmed there. Yet, overcrowding led to officials closing the beach-a decision that was supposed to last only a few months but was extended into 2021.

      Surfer's Paradise (Queensland, Australia)

      21/26
This seaside haven on Australia's Gold Coast is named for the fantastic waves that draw surfers from around the world. The shopping and nightlife, however, have become just as much of a draw for people of all ages.

      Spiaggia Grande (Positano, Italy)

      22/26
Literally, "the large beach," Spiaggia Grande is the main beach of Positano which is a tremendous resort town on Italy's Amalfi Coast, which may be one of the most beautiful places on Earth. When at Spiaggia Grande, enjoy the Beach Club which costs a small amount of money, but affords you a chaise lounge, umbrella and your very own waitstaff.

      Cape Cod (Massachusetts)

      23/26
Most Americans know Cape Cod (if only from TV) as where the rich upper crust of New York City go to hang out, but the beaches are among the best in the world. Even if swimming isn't your thing, you'd probably enjoy heading to North Beach Island and hanging out with the seals that hangout there.

      Yyteri Beach (Pori, Finland)

      24/26
Did you expect Finland to make this list? You should have! One of the largest sandy stretches of all of the Nordic countries, Yyteri has become a resort destination for much of Northern Europe and boasts lots of fantastic things to do in all kinds of weather.

      Deauville Beach (Normandy, France)

      25/26
There's the obvious historical connection to Normandy that many will feel drawn to. There's more at France's greatest beach, however. It's likely the original inspiration for the James Bond thriller, "Casino Royale," as well as a honeymoon destination in "The Great Gatsby." In real life, Coco Chanel helped make Deauville the luxury vacation spot throughout the early 1900s.

      Whitehaven Beach (Whitsunday Island, Australia)

      26/26
Right on The Great Barrier Reef, Whitehaven Beach has long been considered one of the best beaches in Australia and in the entire South Pacific. The perfectly blue water and incredibly white sand makes the beach look absolutely picture perfect, but the nature is helped along by top-notch conservation efforts which keep this amazing location unspoiled.
