Netflix Expands Hotel Partnership Making In-Room Streaming Even Easier

Netflix is likely coming to a hotel room near you following the announcement of an expanded agreement between the popular streaming service and in-room entertainment platform provider Enseo.

While the two companies originally partnered back in 2014, TechCrunch.com reported that the new agreement expands Enseo's distribution rights, meaning that it can now offer Netflix to any hotel under a contract in any country where Netflix is available.

In addition to Netflix, the Enseo Entertainment Experience provides hotel guests with access to a slew of other streaming services, including YouTube, Pandora and Hulu, among others.

It works by allowing hotel guests to access Netflix on their in-room television by either launching the app or selecting the Netflix button on the television remote (if available).

Once the app is open, guests can sign-in to their account and begin streaming at no additional charge since they are already paying for their membership. After check-out, the guest's Netflix account information is conveniently erased from the Enseo device, according to TechCrunch.com.

Although in-room Netflix access is a huge perk for today's hotel guests, the properties themselves also benefit since they typically stream Netflix and similar apps through a dedicated network, thus freeing up their Wi-Fi network for other guests who are surfing the web or working online.

Enseo is currently working with as many as 300 hotels across more than a dozen brands in the U.S. - including Marriott - but those figures appear poised to grow significantly in wake of this week's news.
