Soccer fans will now have plenty of options for seeing the biggest matches of next summers FIFA World Cup: American Airlines is adding more flights and larger aircraft between the tournaments 16 host cities across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.?
The Dallas-based carrier is adding tens of thousands of new seats on its existing routes to cover fans who are planning to hop between the North American host cities for the World Cup in June and July 2026.?
American is also adding new nonstop flights between New York LaGuardia (LGA) and Kansas City (MCI) on June 21 and 22 during the World Cups Group Stage, as well as Atlanta (ATL) and Kansas City (MCI) to shuttle fans between the two locations during the tournaments quarter final round.
"American is ready with its game plan for the FIFA World Cup 26?, adding an extra 27,000 seats on 12 routes this summer, said Brian Znotins, Americans senior vice president of network planning. With more flights to all host cities, were making sure fans dont miss the chance to take part in this once-in-a-lifetime moment across North America."
Heres a look at some of the routes where American is adding more flights and seats for the 2026 FIFA World Cup:
- Boston (BOS) to Dallas Fort Worth (DFW) from June 18 to July 11: More flights and upgauged aircraft
- Atlanta (ATL) to Miami (MIA) from June 16 to July 17: More flights and upgauged aircraft
- Philadelphia (PHL) to Toronto (YYZ) from June 15 to June 30: Upgauged aircraft
- Kansas City (MCI) to PHL from June 15 to June 22: Upgauged aircraft
- Los Angeles (LAX) to Seattle (SEA) from June 13 to July 8: Upgauged aircraft
- ATL to New York LaGuardia (LGA) from July 16 to July 17: More flights and upgauged aircraft
- LAX to Vancouver (YVR) from June 16 to June 26: More flights
- DFW to San Jose, California (SJC) from June 17 to June 27: More flights
- ATL to PHL from June 20 to June 21: More flights and upgauged aircraft
- LGA to MCI from June 21 to June 22: New nonstop flights
- MIA to YYZ from June 28 to June 29: Upgauged aircraft
- ATL to MCI From July 8 to July 13: New nonstop flights
Fares for all of the additional frequencies and larger aircraft are now on sale.?
Later this month, members of Americans AAdvantage loyalty program will also be granted early access to redeem miles for tickets to World Cup matches. The members with the highest level of status, including Executive Platinum and ConciergeKey members, get access first on December 17, followed by those with Gold status, Platinum status, and Platinum Pro status on December 18, and finally All AAdvantage members on December 19.
The airline says it will send push notifications about ticketing access through its mobile app to each of its loyalty members based on their status level.
