Hong Kong offers many different activities to travelers. From stunning natural features to theme parks, festivals, and more, you’ll never be at a loss for what to do.

Several vantage points across Hong Kong offer spectacular views of the islands and the South China Sea. Check out these amazing things to do in Hong Kong before you head off on your Oriental adventure.

Check The View From Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak is the highest point on Hong Kong Island, referred to locally simply as ‘The Peak”. ?

With family-friendly activities, eateries, and a tram to transport you to the summit, you’ll quickly see why it’s one of Hong Kong's main attractions. Featured on countless travel postcards and magazines, you may recognize this iconic symbol of Hong Kong right away. ?

      Hike The Dragon’s Back

Situated in Shek-O Country Park on the southern coast of Hong Kong Island, the Dragon’s Back trail is one of the island’s best urban hiking trails. You can hike up to Shek-O Peak and down again to the sandy shores of Big Wave Bay in 2 to 5 hours, depending on how fit you are.

We found it a bit steep in certain places so make sure you have sturdy walking boots or comfortable exercise shoes. Don’t forget to stay hydrated and pack in some high-energy snacks with your bottled water. There are no refreshment facilities along the trail.

      Visit The Che Kung Temple

This is one of our favorite places in the New Territories of Hong Kong. Che Kung Temple in Tai Wei is a historic building dating to the 17th century. On the second day of the Chinese New Year, and during Che KUn festivals, this temple is an even busier hive of activity.

Che Kung, a general in the Song Dynasty, is believed to have been the savior of the local people from Mongolian warlord Genghis Khan.?

In the main hall, besides a statue of the legendary Che Kung, three fan-shaped wheels of fortune are proudly displayed. It is said that one can change their fortune by turning the blades of the fans. Fortune Tellers wait by the side of the temple’s entrance to give you further insights into your future.

Go Shopping For Souvenirs On Cat Street?

Fancy a bit of shopping? We sure do! While there’s no shortage of great high-end stores in Hong Kong, sometimes you crave something a little different. And that’s what you’ll find on the quaintly named Cat Street, along with a selection of charming restaurants and lively bars.

Officially named Lascar Row, this shopping street is filled with antique stores and art boutiques on Hong Kong Island. It is also affectionately called Mo Lo Street by the locals.?

Spend The Day At Ocean Park

One of the largest theme parks in Hong Kong, Ocean Park offers more than 50 attractions. There are interactive animal shows and rides and games for every age group and thrill level.?

Much like an American County Fair, but bigger and more lively, you’ll find everything from a traditional Ferris wheel to more modern theme park rides.?

Kids all over the world love theme parks, and we think this one stands out among the rest. So if you’re traveling as a family, this is a must on your Hong Kong Island day trip.

Enjoy The Colorful Dragon Boat Festival

Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbor is the base for thrilling dragon boat races during the International Dragon boat Festival.?

Celebrated on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month (usually in June), this festival is a riot of color and merriment. Prizes are handed out for the best team costumes.

But if you miss the grand event, several other dragon boat races take place throughout Hong Kong during the year.?

      Walk The Avenue Of Stars

Walk along the waterfront promenade known as the Avenue Of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui in Kowloon. It is Hong Kong’s homage to their local contribution to the film industry, much like the Hollywood Walk Of Fame.

The plaques carrying celebrity autographs and handprints are set into a path that is up at night, turning the promenade into a sparkly walkway.? We found that this is also an ideal spot for some epic photos with Victoria Harbor as the backdrop.?

      Explore Hong Kong

Hong Kong offers adventure-seekers the opportunity to have an Asia vacation experience with a western flavor.?

The most cosmopolitan of the surrounding countries of the Orient, you’ll find the perfect fusion of eastern culture and western progress here.
